I had it, and it was an excellent grill. Great quality and good construction. The only issue I had with it was the stock chrome RT grill showed from underneath it. The grill is a bolt on overlay, so if you have the chrome stock, the slats show through and it doesn't look very good.

I eventually went with a mesh insert, but I believe the issue can be fixed by purchasing an SXT grill which is all black (or painting your RT grill black). Should be fine.

If you have an SXT model, you're all set and ready to go anyway :D

yeah, I know what you're talking about...I forgot to mention that section because my car is black so I didn't have a problem, but yes, I would imagine that would show through as well :(

P.S -> I may be a little bit too picky on this subject. When I created my original thread asking about the RT grill showing through I was told to "let it go" and "it's not that noticable" by serveral users on the forum lol

I was told if the red part shows, to use some window screen around the red part somehow and that would help, But I will first see what it looks like, maby a little red showing through maynot be that bad at all.

This may sound like a hack job, but darn it, it works! Use black electrical tape over the chrome grill slats (RT) and over the body-coloured horizontal bar that will be behind the billet grill overlay. The parts will no longer show and no-one (short of judges at the Concour de Elegance) will be aware of the 'awful' truth.

You'll have to use several strips to cover the width of the red horizontal bar. Go from the bottom towards the top, and that way there is no upward-facing tape edge that will catch water/dirt/etc and start to show or peel later on. It will stay in place for years. Of course, if there is black tape out there that is wide enough to cover the whole section in one width, that would be the ideal way to go. Just trim the excess (if any).

I have one that loks the the same from another vendor. Looks great. Just cover the cross-bar with black duct tape.

If you have an RT the silver pieces can be removed from the stock grill first.

I've been looking at this grill too and SoCal_Magnum I haven't bought it BECAUSE the cross bars would show thru. So I dont think your too picky :-)
but I like the idea of using black tape (maybe some wide black racing stripe tape. Its usally flat black)

snikle: who did you get it from? If I can remove the factory grill (and with the tape on the two cross pieces) I might just get it.

I replaced my grille and once I had the thing out, I saw you can take a stock R/T chrome grille and snap off the chrome parts and leave just black plastic. 'course, if you remove something that grille insert wants to glom onto you're screwed...

I did just that. But since my car is black, I didn't need to tape the large body colored cross bar. Check out the link in my sig for pics of my R/T with the stock grilles taped black. As you said, someone would need to know what they're looking for to notice the tape underneath. I used an exacto knife to cut the tape around every nook and cranny. I didn't want to completely remove the silver stock grille, since that's what this thing attaches to. I prefer this aftermarket grille to the ones on ebay that have more bars. It gets to the point where not much air could get through. The bars on this particular grille are spaced far enough apart to have a mean look and let air get through to the radiator. I've gotten nothing but compliments!

Ok, yeah, I guess you "could" tape it off if you really wanted to....guess that's just not for me :( I went with the full replacement in the long run. If you're cool with putting tape all over your fascia and making it work, more power to you. I'm sure it will look fine to anyone not knowing what you did

Very sharp, Black on Black! I really like how you modified the location for the Hemi emblem at the front of the moulding strip. I might have to rob that one from you. I'd give you full credit for the idea, though.
