Yep thats exactly what it is... the funny part is that the Magnum has the wiring run to that point for the trunk release button. There is just a two wire connector but it didn't open the back when I closed the circuit so either its not hooked up or the button does more than that. That button also appears to not be sold individually, it comes as part of that peice of the dash so its a bit pricey to get one to play with. If your friend is willing you should pull his button out and put it in your Magnum and see what happens. I can give you instructions on how to pull that part of the dash down so you can access the wires, its very easy.

wow im in the right place!! that was a great response
i would actually like to try this since the indent kind of make me wonder
all help will be great
thanks
Well the first problem you'll have putting a button in is that that indent is just that, its not actually made to pop out so you'll have to cut it out. To pull the dash follow these steps:
1. Remove the screws: There are three screws I believe holding it in place so you'll need to remove them. Two on the side by the door and one under the dash by the brake release.
2. Remove the skirt: There are two "christmas tree" tabs holding the skirt, the piece of carpet hovering above the pedals, in place. You'll have to pull them out to remove the skirt. They make a special tool to remove them but if you don't have one of those a pair of pliers can be used to gently pry them out. I actually use a pair of sprinkler system crimpers, available at Home Depot, to pull them out. You'll have to pull the dash down some and pull the skirt out FROM around the hood release before pulling the skirt out.
3. Pull Dash out: The next step is probably the scariest of all. There are two metal clips holding the dash on to the right, just beside the center bezel. Mine are a pain in the ass to get loose so I have to give it a hard yank to pull it out. The two clips face straight back so you'll want to pull the dash straight out so you don't bend or break any plastic.
At this point you will be able to access the button but if you want to completely remove the dash continue to step 4.
4. Remove Lower Dash Panel: The only thing holding the panel now is the brake release which can be a pain to get off. You'll need a pair of needle nose pliers to grab the line where it connects to the handle at the rear. The line is held to the handle by a plastic cap that flares out, to remove it you use the pliers to pinch those flares back down and push the cap out the hole in the back of the handle. You then twist the handle up and the line will slide right out.
Hope this helps! Remember this is all by memory so I might have missed a screw or a "christmas tree" pin so be carefull when you do it. Just use common sense and you'll be fine. Can't wait to hear if it works!

I would have liked it if we could pop the trunk in the Magnum. I use my trunk daily, laptop and what not, and it would be nice to pop the trunk while I was getting out of the car.
It is the Trunk Monkey button, an exclusive 300C option.

The one on the far right is the best one!

You need to lift the gate anyway and when you do, the electric latch opens the hatch.
The reason the 300 has a trunk release is because there is no handle and you would need to use your fob or the key if you want to open the trunk FROM outside.
The only advantage for the Magnum would be if it opened the hatch all the way when "popped" remotely. You would need either a motor or really strong struts to add this.
Good point... to make it work we'll have to get one of those "door poppers" that you use when you shave the door handles. I wonder if this has anything to do with those weights they put in the doors... Someone said that they put the weights in because it was too hard for some people to close the hatch, maybe this was the trade off. There are a couple people on the board that have removed the weights, maybe one of them could answer the question "Do you have to pull the liftgate to open it or does it just swing open as soon as you hit the switch?".Originally Posted by bobf
