What needs to be replaced for tune up.

I'm reading the service manuel for the Magnum RT, it says I will need for the 30,000 mile service, Here is the list of items that i read.

replace all 8 coils, wires, 02 sensor, all 16 plugs, gas filters, pvc valve. What ever it will need to do this, I went to the stealer ship thay wANTED $ 800.00 . Labor is $75 Hr , , .

Is there a DIY on the forum for the maintenance, & will there be any need to reset the computer myself or am I stuck @ the stealer ship?

    help!

    30,000 mile service includes:
Change engine oil and engine oil filter
    Replace the air cleaner filter.
    Replace the spark plugs.
Check and replace, if necessary, thePCV valve.
    Replace the air conditioning filter.
    Rotate the tires.

coils, wires, O2 sensors and fuel filter do not require replacement at this mileage unless defective. perhaps what they quoted you was off their generic menu meant to cover all vehicles???
Izzy pics money talks. unfortunately, mine usually says... "good bye!"

All that is required is plugs and air filter.

Funky has it right, check PCV and if necessary replace.

coils are good for almost ever. wires dont need to be replaced for a long time.

I really doubt it. An Hemi car should really just need plugs, and that's it, besides normal stuff like oil and tire rotation.

I could not find the instructions right now, but if you do a search, you will find the info needed to do it yourself. I did mine, plugs cost me $40, torque wrench cost $30, pcv valve $30, air con filter $30 (have self oiling aftermarket filter). Just to have the dealer change my plugs would have cost $240. Do it yourself, not really hard, use saved money for new mods.
All wheel drive, 420hp, pure American attitude. Would not have it any other way.

Brake fluid I just change every other year. But that's me.
Transmission fluid is either 60,000 miles on schedule B or never on schedule A. (I think they got rid of schedule A/B on 2008's and just say at 60,000 miles now).
    Coolant is at 100,000 miles.

    Thanks guys.

I just buy the parts and my mechanic will install them.

I have a true flow air filter. Does it matter what I use to recharge it? Will the K&M kit work? I have a feeling it's all the same.

    30,000 mile service

my local dealer just quoted $999.50 for the 30K service on my 2005 magnum R/T. This covered some 26 items, most said visual inspect this and that, which did not seem to require a great of labor.

I informed the service Mgr. that the maintenance manual listed 6 items for the 30K service, and I had already done 4 of them. What I needed was the spark plugs changed and the PVC valve checked (which for some reason was not on the list of 26 items). This resulted in a big price reduction to $850, but only after he went in the back and met with the head bean counter ( which probably was sitting at a green felt table with a green eye shade).

I bought my car from this dealer new in 2005 and what little work they have done under warranty, they managed to screw up. After they worked on the right hand pull problem it steered erratically and an alignment at a tire shop found that the total toe was out some 3.93 degrees.

I live a in a small town north of San Francisco, and this is the only car dealer in town (dodge, Chevrolet). Because of reduced business this dealer
has recently reduced some of their shop people. I wonder if some of this is due to the outrageous cost of their service?

    Jim
