Mineral Grey CSRT-8
Never seen that mentioned anywhere. Would be interesting to see what it does.

Its on the list of places for me to call and pick brainsI am waiting for a return call from them.

Very expensive, but I'd like to see what dyno gains this would give over Superchips, I'd also like to see if for that kind of money you can change trans settings, do diagnostic, read codes, read 0-60, 1/4 mile times...

This is one of the systems we are working with to bring actual dyno and street tuning to these vehicles... The difference is that the systems we are looking at would be used in a laptop not a PDA.
Once we have the capability to tune these vehicles... really tune them then we the LX community will have the holy grail to custom tunes and utilizing our electronics and mechanical mods to the upper ends of their capabilities.

Is this a piggyback or ECU Programmer?

this is a piggyback.
When I called them (unichip) they also stated that it's an easy install as it does not require any cutting of wires like the splitsecond piggyback. They have a PNP wiring harness that would allow for easy install.
they sell different versions. basically same thing with a pre-loaded tune. If you have intake, shorties and catback, they have a pre-tuned unit. If you have long tubes, and any other mods, you can get the unit programed/configured on a dyno. Apparently the MAP resolution is very good and it's possible to get better control over AFR than even the stock computer. I don't know if it has an integrated MAP sensor, I seem to remember something about a 2 bar MAP being part of it as well. I would suspect that this product is responsible for the rest of the forced induction companies not torching engines like GSM...
Even with heads, cam, headers and exhaust there should be huge gains available from this. While it's a piggyback, it basically replaces the ECU as far as the engine is concerned. It gives signals back to the car that keeps it from throwing codes, but fuel and timing control is taken away from the car's computers..
Anyone going to pull the trigger on this? I don't have the funds in the mod fund anymore...
It is a piggyback system, a mini computer inserted between the engine sensors and the main vehicle ECM. As such, it modifies the signals based on it's program and feeds the modified information to the vehicles ECM. As such, it does not divorce fuel and timing control from the factory ECM, it allows you to work within the factory ECM parameters to achieve the results you are looking for (as long as it's within what the ECM can tolerate).
The Unichip MAP sensor is an add on item, and it is proprietary. Means you must use theirs. The Unichip also, is not an open platform unit. While the "FLUX" PDA option may give you some parameters to play with, only a Licensed Unichip Tuner has the software, cables, etc.. to adjust all the Unichip parameters. And that does not change the ECM program itself.
This is why you see various "tune" options for the applications. Unichip has some base maps for the more popular items, but a custom tune would be done by the aforementioned licensed Unichip Tuner.
Retail is around $800 to as much as $2,000 for some really exotic stuff. I would expect the HEMI applications to be around the $1,000 area full retail.
It is a very powerful unit, and capable of performing operations as fast or faster than a stock ECM, that way it can stay up with or ahead of the factory ECM.
Hope this helps.

We are about to become a UNICHIP tuner/dealer, I just gotta get the paperwork back to them.
They have 2 versions, the basic version allows the use of 2 tunes and you use a toggle switch to select them. The "Flux" version allows 5 maps to be used, and I believe one of them is a "valet mode" and the other is a "kill" mode, but I will have to double check on that. The Flux version uses Bluetooth.
We plan to install these on my truck (414 stroker with huge cam & nitrous), a 06 SRT8 charger with a 426 & turbo, and a 392 stroker N/A truck pretty soon.
I will keep you guys up to date as things progress.
MSRP for LX platform basic kit is $1,054.44 for the basic and $1,365.63 for the "Flux".
We are still working out our cost, and what we will able able to sell these for but I promise it will be less than the MSRP!

Question: Will this be useable in conjunction with a SuperChips flash? I certainly don't have the money to drop $1000 into a mod right now, but I've got enough for a SC. However, I don't want to get the SC Flashpaq if it won't work with the Unichip tuner down the road.

The superchips changes things inside your PCM like a B&G flash does. The UNICHIP manipulates the signals after they leave your PCM so you can use it with a Superchips or B&G flash no problem. In fact I recommend Superchips with it on the Ram trucks because the UNICHIP doesn't do anything for increased rev limit or shifts etc.
