    Top speed - Canadian RT

I read on this forum...somewhere, that the Canadian RT's do not have the speed limiter like the ones sold in the USA. Can anyone verify this? I would try, but mine is on a train somewhere between Toronto and Calgary. i should take possession by the 15th.

Interesting to know, I am in Canada...

Wonder why though they would not have a speed limiter like the US ones. There is no reason that would justify this.

That's a good rumour to start, and when you car gets here to Calgary we should make a meet and then you can see if it is the same as the 300C. I hate to say it but you have a limiter, just phone your dealer.

It didn't make sense to me, either, but there is a post on here that claims the Canuck units have no limiter. Wishful thinking, I guess.

Mikeyjohn, I'm picking my car up in Lethbridge. Almost bought one in Calgary last month, but the deal went way sour. :(

it is posible that the canadian cars get the Pirelli 225/60's instead of the continentals, the continentals are the reason the US cars are limited to 129, that's all the continentals are good for and Pirelli doesn't sell their 225/60's in the US.

The only car that is not speed limited is Special Service (Police) vehicles

I just have to find out which black box it is.
I like to pass that's why I love this car

Northern Rider on 300Cforums claims 143 MPH. Someone else there about two months ago claimed 150MPH in Mexico, purchased FROM a Mexican dealership, fwiw.

Maybe the km/h vs. mph is what has clouded this issue.

One thing I have to wonder, though. Why do the Canadian Magnum speedometers only go to 220km/h, while the PT Cruiser has a 260 km/h speedo? Things seem reversed there.

that's weird that they would only put a 220km/h speedo in it considering the american car has a 160 mph (260 km/h) speedo.

I think the RT speedo goes to either 260 or 280Km while the others go to 220, I remember reading this in the options list somewhere.

The RT definitely has a higher top end speedo.

My wife had a 300 Touring the other day while her car was being serviced, I asked her too look at the speedo on a 300C whne she brought it back. The C's only reads 140 now, like the V6 models. Is this because the limiter, and it's pointless to have a 160 MPH guage (although I'm told the 300C could reach 149-155 if it didn't have the limiter)??

153mph was the offical top speed before they put the 129 mph limiter on it, not sure if that 153 was drag limited though or if was also the computer, hopefully in another year or two once other manufacturers start making the 225/60's they will DROP continental and put another brand on that has a higher speed rating so they can bring it back up since I belive the tires are the only reason it was dropped to 129, they original planned on using the pirelli's but they aren't sold in the US.

Another factor to consider is that continental makes the ESP package for the LXes; so even if more tires come out in this size DC may not switch.
