    Ticking sound

Got a question...I am starting to hear a ticking sound in the cabin of the car during idle. It is louder in the car than out. I checked the oil thinking it was oil related lifter noise and the oil was fine...anything near the back of the car tick? The tick got louder with the motor reving but it did not change with RPM....any ideas?

    Thanks

possibly the DCPS (duty cycle purge solenoid) on R/F shock tower. this usually starts to pulse approx. 30-45 seconds after start up.

that thing can make all sorts of noise, and doesn't change speeds with engine speed.

Make sure the rubber isolator it sits on is keeping it away from all things solid...

Stupid Question do SRT's have this too....I have noticed with the colder weather windows up i hear that in the cabin too...not outside just when its idling in my driveway warming up.....Thanks...I thought it was a lifter the other day but the tone never changed when i gave it gas so i knew it wasnt motor related and it sounds like it is on the passenger side now that you say that....

Most likely not your problem, but these new light weight rotating assemblies have really short piston skirts and at idle with no load the piston will slap harmlessly in the liner. I don't think your sounds like a mechanical knock or slap/tap. GL

Do you have automatic climate control? If you do,try turning it off to see if it stops. I had something like that, without the motor revving association, in my 300M.

all LX have a DCPS. it's used to regulate the amount of fuel vapour coming from the charcoal canister.
