Swapping Calipers on a Mag RT.
I have been sitting on a set of powdercoated calipers for a while now. the powdercoating place wrecked the rubber seals around the pistons so I need to replace them before doing anything else..
I have heard multiple views on the seals.. - Use the seals from my current calipers as they can be removed and put on the new calipers easy enough.
- Make sure to buy new caliper seals (they are expensive apparently) and don't mess with the old ones at all.
What's involved with pulling the seals and replacing them? anyone? FNKY?
Or should I just repaint them again and not bother with the powdercoated set? seems like alot of work.. but the paint is coming off the ones i have on there and they look like crap.. (and they were cleaned before painting)

if they wrecked the seals, shouldn't they pay to have the calipers rebuilt w/ new ones??? The brakes operate at temperatures MUCH higher than what's used in the powdercoating process, so they shouldn't/couldn't have been able to damage them with heat...

you can replace the dust boots easily enough. if you need to replace the piston seals, the calipers will need to be disassembled. not sure what brake fluid will do to your fresh powdercoating.
front dust boots: 5174318AA $22.32 each.
rear dust boots: 05174330AB $74.25 each.
