    Stickers...tacky or a nice touch?

When I return from my deployment, I have allotted myself between 7k and 10k to build my car. I personally dont like import and their stickers, but if done tastefully, would it look good if I advertised the work I had done to my car?
Im thinking profesionally made vinyl stickers with names like Flowmaster, K and N, etc etc arranged the way the pro racers do it. Im justifying this to myself because the car will have at least 7k in aftermarket parts. and it would deserve to be shown off.

Clean good...stickers bad! Unless you're a race car driver. Then...stickers good!

Alot of race car stickers are on race cars for one reason only- CONTINGENCY MONEY.
    Not advertising.

Comparing the two makes no sense, you won't get contingency money for decals on a street car driving around.

I'm not a big "decaled out car" fan. I think it leans towards looking "poser-ish", if you know what I mean. Like a huge aluminum spoiler and big tip on an otherwise stock car....?

I put 1 sticker on my back window very small just above the rear brake lite that says LX FORUMS.COM and thats it. I just like the look of a clean car.

I finished some custom work at a local speed shop and the shop owner hauled out the decals from the box and asked if I wanted them.

    "No thanks" I said.

"What?" He replied with a smile and a chuckle. "You don't want to be Ricky Racer?"

A car is stickered for one only one good reason: The owner is sponsored and the stickers are evidence that you sold a bit of yourself for the parts. If you are putting stickers on a car for any other reason recognize that it makes you look like a doofus to anyone who is serious in the field. For all the other little Ricky Racers with their stickers maybe you will gain some measure of respect but for a lot of others it will keep them from taking you as anything but a dilettante.

Me, I have no stickers and a sponsor would have to be one hell of a vendor who I absolutely wanted to plug, personally, to be able to even ask to buy part of the side of my car for an advertising billboard.

Unless they paid you or gave you free parts I wouldn't advertise for them. I am a sponsor junkie and most of my mods are sponsored but, if a company won't sponsor me and I have to purchase the part or mod I usually won't even tell someone what I use or where to get it. Unless it's a member here and they really need help with something and then I will PM it to them. I don't put decals on my car either I just promote them at shows and online. Not to mention comapny decals would really hurt the class value of your ride! Just My .02!

Like most have said.... unless they are paying or providing you with the parts then no way not kewl. As also mentioned.. kinda makes ou look like a poser or a wanna be (i wanna be a racer).

But hey man, its your ride. You do with it as you see fit. Lots of peeps have sunk a ton of money into their rides and dont bother with klingons... i mean stickers.

I"ve got one small H-D sticker on the back left corner of my rear window, and a bumpersticker showing my support for a friend who is running for Sheriff in our county. It's on the window glass, though, and is ONLY there because, like I said, the guy is a good friend of ours.
I've debated very seriously taking the Harley sticker off, too.

    Thanks, Hazman

And the differance between a couple of small decals and the lists of mods most of us have in our sigs here is what? Don't get me wrong I just about fall out of the car laughing when I look at some of the overdone vinyl stickers and stuff I see stuck on cars nowadays but a couple of small decals? I actually go out of my way to find plain T-shirts so I don't feel like a walking advirtisement but small window stickers? Like I said it's an old school look and I've been roaring around in souped up cars a looooong time
