    Stalling w/ only Superchips/176deg thermostat.

So I chalked up the first occurence to a fluke, but it happened again. While sitting at a light the car stalled. Anyone else have problems with stalling? I have an 05 300C w/ only Superchips 91 octane tune and a 176deg thermostat. Could it have anything to do w/ the transmission settings? I have it set at Paddle - Auto Kick and Lowered Torque Management.

Last week I did throw a couple codes which I cleared. One for the thermostat low temp and the other was for torque management, but they havent come back on in a couple hundred miles.

Try some WOT runs. This may generate the torque error code. I used to get torque codes all the time, but I can't remember the number. After I had the dealer update my car the torque errors went away. But my car never stalled.

I was having trouble getting my boat out of the back yard. The idiot who built my fence ignored my requirements and built the double gate smaller than I required. There is only about 2" of clearance on either side. Anyway, my engine stalled 3 times. I recently installed Flashpaq 91 octane setting with paddle hold. The program has been installed for a couple of months and this is the first time I have experienced this.

I saw this a couple of times with the flashpaq on other cars. It may be due to older software in your car not the flashpaq. Have the dealer or someone you know with a starscan update your software in the PCM and TCM first. Make sure you return to stock with the superchips first. Otherwise your flashpaq won't work with your car anymore.

SC will not induce stalling; I have read elsewhere that overfilling your tank can induce stalling (I don't believe this, as I fill mine as full as I can get it every time). Can you correlate to a fill-up?

Have owned my 05' Magnum RT for 3 years, it has only stalled once on me. That was some time ago. I do run SC 91 setting.

I had problems with stalling after a 1200mi run with the Superchips tune & torque management. I set it back to stock when I got home and still, when I started it the moroe would rev slightly and drop to 450 rpm causing it to either stall or cycle again. I got the computer re-flashed, sold the Superchips and haven't looked back. I don't know if this is your problem but I have had ZERO problems since.

DO NOT fill your tank completely full!!! When the pump shuts off, do not pump any more. The reason for this is that the cool gas in the underground tank expands when it warms up in your tank. The gas tank vent is connected to your charcoal cannister. If you flood this cannister, your car will run very rich if it runs at all!!!! Also, do not fill your tank and park your car on a downhill slope. This could also flood the cannister. When the engine is running, engine vacuum sucks out the fumes adsorbed by the charcoal. The cannister is an emission control device. In the pre-emission control days, the tank was just vented to the atmosphere.

Have you tried just resetting the ECM (fuse 11 pull or battery disconnect?)

It seems like the longer a SC program is running, the more some ECM issues will appear like stalling and idle reving. I occasionally have a stall and reving. ECM reset definately helps with the reving, but I haven't had enough stalling to verify if it helps there.

My car stalled had the rev problem and occasionally stalled BEFORE the LX flashpaq was released. So I think the programming may be exacerbating some issues.

I live in NJ, we dont pump our own gas, but i'll be sure to let the attendant know from now on. BUT, this did not occur on a full tank, I was less than 1/2 tank at the time, so.....

I haven't pulled fuse 11, ever. I just got the car a few weeks ago and only installed the SC less than 2 wks ago so it hasn't been running very long.

This is simply not true, refer to the shop manual under emmissions and you will discover that the vehicle would have to be upside down...in which case you have other more important issues...
