    SRT Headers/Mids on R/T?

I searched, but can't seem to find a comprehensive source of information on this, other than this thread (JBA vs Stock SRT8 header on 5.7?)

Basically, I wanted to swap out my exhaust for an SRT exhaust if I can find one for cheap enough.

What are the difficulties/benefits of doing this, and is it worth doing?

Basically, what all do I need to swap out to do this right?

Can I just bolt up the headers/mids/and catback from an SRT?

    Yes.

The entire system bolts up fine. I have the SRT headers with the flange modified for the egr valve, I ground down the welds in the SRT headers as well.

Mids and cat back fit the car exactly. I used challenger headers I got off of ebay for $25.00. SRT mids were $150 (thanks Erik!) and my catback was $50 on craigslist.

Excellent mod, no drone other than MDS and good S.O.P. feel.

Ask away if you have any other questions.

As for a parts list you will need:
6.1 gaskets, 16 6.1 exhaust bolts, 1.25" spacer for dipstick retention and alot of bandaids if you are doing this in your garage on jackstands

did this on the wifes car a few months ago.

    273/305 stock...

after the 6.1 shortie, magnaflow high flows cats and the magnaflow 6.1 cat back the car made 285 / 350

    not a bad gain....

So after reading the links that seanol posted (thanks a lot btw) it seems like there needs to be a notch made for the egr. What about the oxygen sensors? These guys are nazis when it comes to emissions around here, I want to be sure i'll pass. Currently i'm stock except for Borla 125 catback. I already have srt8 headers and midpipes, and i'll probably just buy a 6.1 SLP LM1 exhaust so everything can bolt right up. Will this setup pass emissions with egr notch and o2 sensors?

its made of stock parts, so yes. it has what they want. 4 o2 sensors, 2 cats, and looks "stock". it'll pass.

The only problem I ran into on my car was the driver side rear o2 sensor(might bee the front, I don't remember but you will know it). The wire was a little short. If you undo the harness holder at the head you will gain the needed distance so you don't stretch the wires and risk pulling out the wires from the connectors.

The notch is on the header flange face so you will never see it and it will pass the required amount of exhaust gas for emissions. You will need to drive around a bit to get into ready state if you disconnect the battery I think. You definitely want the battery disconnected if you do this work.

I used an SRT catback and I am happy with the sound. Not too loud but has a nice growl when you get on it. You will hear MDS mode but I turned it off.

No codes in over 2000 miles so far.
