Also, is the 2006 warranty the same for the magnum rt and srt8? I am seeing conflicting numbers between 3yr 36k miles for drivetrain on either? That just doesnt sound right.
First, update profile so we know where you are located.

Warranty- SRT has 3/36. where the RT's have a 7/70 powertrain warranty that is only transferable to second owner for $150. The 08's had lifetime powertrain warranty for original owner only, but not on SRT-only 3/36. I remember asking a dealer about why a $40k+ car gets worse warranty than a $20k base 2.7.

updating profile. Thanks for the info.

This is a stupid question, but this will be the 1st car I am actually buying. Previously i made payments to my folks. How does the transfer of warranty work in a private sale?

Well between the wife and I we have FOUR magnums. My two are and 06 Mag SRT and an 05 Mag R/T and I honestly love them both. Comparsion between the two ~ IMO the SRT is well worth the extra money. As far as mileage, I get near the same in both; HOWEVER I use 93 octane in the SRT and only 89 octane in the R/T, needless to say it's cheaper to drive.

Its a new page but i would still appreciate the information.

Does anyone else have suggestions where to look? There is an extremely limited selection of magnums, and i really dont want more than 40k in miles.

I keep a constant eye on Autotrader, ebay, carmax (seems like a rip-off), and this forum.

^ Those are about the best sources, you just have to be patient... When I was looking for the Dodge, I was looking for the Charger SXT/AWD. Took me about 2 months to find one, and it was about 8 hrs. away. But I DID find one!

My best friend just bought an '05 Magnum SXT/AWD this summer. He pretty much tripped over it at a local car dealership! Sometimes it helps to be lucky, too.

After I registered mine, a card came in mail from Chrysler. Took to local dealer and paid the cashier. You can just go to the local Dodge dealer where you might have warranty service and do it before the card comes. That way if any ?'s they have record of payment. Only on 7/70 for second owner.

Well I had a R/T that i swapped a 6.1L into. I had the road and track package so i had the interior but not the brakes. I put a good amount of money into my car before my swap including swapping the gears, luckily almost everything swapped over on the engine. I can tell you first hand the SRT if I had to do it over again is where i would of started. my gas mileage is only 2mpg different than my RT and on the freeway its about the same. In city driving you will average lower than the RT but open road cruising no worries. Not having to deal with MDS is nice as well instant pick and go while cruising and no chance of drone as well!

thanks for the suggestions. Soon to be wife got her CX7 new today and is very excited. I no longer need the utility of magnum, but i still like it. This just means i can look at chargers now too. I think at a minimum im looking for either with the road and track package. I really need to find a steal SRT8 though. There is one on autotrader at 18k around 33k miles. If only i didnt have to wait until Feb.
