what's the difference between short and long headers such as JBA shorties or kooks and mopars long headers? except the pricing difference but
Is there different horsepower gains?
sound?
Does it matter which brand name?
i need help. thanks

kooks are the best if you have the money to spend on them.

Difference is flow... longtubes have longer tubes (duh). They also have a larger total cross-sectional area for a longer length and smoother collectors. That all translates to less resistance to flow than shorties can provide. The result is that they are able to support higher power levels.

That's it in a nutshell right there...
However, factor in the CEL's, the completely obviousness to the emissions police that you have modified your catalytic converters and the more than double the price, and all of a sudden shorty's look a whole lot better.
Daily driver in an emissions zone? No CEL's, headers pretty much invisible, coupled with high-flow cats, still not obvious to the emissions dudes, half the price.
You pays your money and takes your pick.

Long tubes!

Long tubes here also ... but I live in Cali :(
I'll miss you big brother!
Long tubes if you plan more than minor bolt-on mods in the future. No CELs with the Mopar LT package. They are pricey but they're port-matched and include high flow cat mid-pipes.
2009 BB 300C SRT8 - Diablosport Predator, LMI Hammer-design intake, lower rad-shroud mod, 180* t-stat, BT catch can (unplugged for winter), Mopar hitch, dashboard hula girl, Blizzak tires on 18" Borbet type TS rims for winter.

what if somone was going catless. For instance, would Jba shorties and catless mids performe the same as mopar mid length with high flow cats?
ok i got it, thanks, long headers it is... when i get the money:(
If your concerned about passing smog stick with the shorties. If you don't care go with long tubes and shut off your rear o2 sensors.
LXBuilder@Yahoo.com
so what happens when you dont pass smog? im sure Cali is big on that.
is there a big difference between the two in sound going thru a borla 125 exhaust? becuase i listen on youtube on different headers going thru my exhaust and not really any difference, i dotn know if its the camera audio or not.
thanks

You need to find you someone that is willing to test it for you at a price... if you know what i meanI'm in that situation right now... again. seems ever since i put my LT's on i've been having to pay 100+ to get it inspected. lol! Never did get the spark plug fouler to work for me. Heck, not to many i know got it to work. I guess this would be a good time to ask what folks are doing to pass inspection with LT's that throw codes.
