Angry Rotors warped and leaking seals!

My RT has 11k miles on it and I just had to have all 4 rotors replaced. They were warped very badly. The tech said that it looked like they were made from 2 differnt kinds of metal and had some hard spots in them. They also had to replace they inner and outer axle seals, which were leaking. Needless to say I am not very happy. I don't even want to get started about the Conticrap tires which were scalloped as well. Has anyone else had these problems? I know most people hate the tires, but I don't recall seeing any of the other issues.

Warped rotors are rare on the R/T 300C. May have been mis-diagnosed. Here is some required reading that may save you a lot of money over the years. I run a fleet; it has saved me thousands of $$$$:

    How To Bed In Brakes

The pads are ceramic and the rotors are a Mercedes design. The hard spots the tech referred to is pad material transfer which would cause "pulsing". Is it possible your service department is generating a little "extra" warranty billing?

As to axle seals, I cannot comment, other than to say this is the first report I've heard of premature leaking.

    Hope this helps.

No they don't. they'd need a country road and an hour of billable time. From their point of view, they just say "warped rotors" - and replace everything.

WOW, I have EXACTLY the same problem. Car is in the shop now for leaky rear seals. This is the second time. They ordered new seals and then the mechanic said it should not have leaked again so we want to order another part. Hopefully part will be here on Mon and car back on tues then off to tire shop to test fit new wheels and tires. I will be so p o'ed if I dont have car back on fri for CAI face off! Did they replace rotors on waranty? Thought brakes were not covered?
    I like to pass!!

make sure they check the axle vent to make sure it is not restricted. this could allow pressure build-up and cause a leak.

That is an excellent article. Bedding in brakes on a new vehicle should be approached just like the break-in of any other component. I always selectively baby and then hammer every system on a new vehicle and everything seems to last and feel just the way it should.

The brakes on my 300 have some of the best "feel" of any I have used. The Mustang GT I have feels pretty good too, but that is a hydraulic power assist, not vacuum.

After replacing the rotors and an alignment, all was well. Since it was still under warranty, I didn't question much. My dealer seems to be no nonsense, so I don't think they played it up. The new rotors will be broken in properly. Thanks for the info.

You may want to consider an alternate set of pads which meet your 'spirited driving' if that's how you run the car. The transfer will be greater on a generic street pad pushed to the limit.

However...the 'performance' pad will do the same thing if you run them hard and pull the car down to a full stop repeatedly in traffic. Stop and go at speed on the freeway can do this too. Remember to creep and or take your foot off the pedal whenever possible and the chance for transfer (those spots) will be far less.

I'd love a set of racing pads for my 300C. Can't find them anywhere.

Has anyone seen a pad that matches our spec?

I hear ya! Told the dealer I was feeling a pulsing in the brakes (warped rotors?) and the mechanic took it for a test drive, he agreed with me. Took it in for oil change and replacing the tires (under 11,000) and asked about the rotors. They are going to order them, falls under the 12,000 mile mark, so it's warrenty. Tires were crap about 8,000 miles (worn uneven, feathering), had it aligned (warrenty- toe was off on all 4) now I have new tires, Goodyear's, and it feels great, (compared to what it was).
