    Raced a Magnum...

I just got back FROM visiting my brother up in Charlotte. His next door neighbor has a Magnum with the hemi in it....

Well after watching the base ball game we starting talking cars .

One thing led to another and before we knew it we were in our respective cars( mine being the Marauder) heading out to quiet area off of the highway that has a stop light at a T intersection on a farming road that sees no traffic .Apparently this is a common spot for a little street action .

We line up at the light and here's what happened .

The Magnum took me easily out of the hole and had me by a car length to about 30 mph .
From 30-60 we stayed a car length apart with the Magnum in the lead .

At about 80 mph I started to draw even .

At 95 mph I was about a half a car length ahead.

I must admit that that Magnum really took off FROM a dead start. The motor sounds good too!

These cars are both really cool.

It was a fun romp .
You guys have great cars too !!

Goober, just wanted to teach a guy something that knows all about cars. Some V/8's
have more than just 8 plugs. Pop the hood on that Magnum you ran.

I always thought that the Marauder was running 15-16 second 1/4 miles and 7.5 second 0-60. Closing a car length gap FROM 80mph is quite a feat that thing must be NOS driven...

My thoughts exactly. Although the Marauder is a cool car, unless it wasn't stock i don't think it could hang with the Magnum R/T. Tonyts comments on the performance of the marauder are correct when it comes to 0-60 times and 1/4 mile. Although anything is possible on the street, i don't think it is likely, but you were there and i wasn't. Let us know about the mods you have on your car, if any goober.

I do know that "goober's" car is N/A. What I don't know is his exact list of mods. I'll let him chime in on that.

    Uh, "goober?"

His account sounds remarkably similar to my race with a Magnum - I lost off the line but caught up/passed later. Either way, I liked the sound of the hemi also.

I keep trying to think about this logically and there's NO WAY a stock Marauder is going to come close to touching the RT...

Goober I don't doubt you may have won, but you should list you mods when you post a kill next time.

Well , I wasn't posting to gloat over a kill . I wouldn't even call it that as we were so close .

I was just posting to let everyone know that these two awesome cars are so very close in performance .As a matter of fact , I'm considering buying a Magnum for my wife.

I'm not here to bash anybody !

My car is all stock except for a chip.

I love all rear whell drive American muscle.

    Goob,

Nobody was bashing you man. We just needed some facts because a stock Marauder won't touch an RT...

Did the magnum have 20's or 22's? Bigger wheels are known to hurt performance.

I'm not too surprised as I've seen 1/4 mile times FROM Magnums in the 14.5 -15.3 range .

So I think that, as in all manufacturing processess , there is a performance variable.

I stiil think the Magnum is a great car and a great looking car compared to the 300, in my opinion, but once again you just have to love any rear wheel drive American V8 performance vehicle!

14.2-14.4 seems to be the norm for a broke in Magnum and 300. The Marauder is still a 15.5-16 car. It will most likely lose every time. Unless of course it's not stock.
