    Possible Leakage '06 Charger RT

Well I changed the oil for the first time on my car since I've owned it. It's got about 20,000 miles on it. While I was under there I noticed some strange things.

1: Two power steering lines, one was bone dry and the other looked wet. I checked the level and it did show that fluid needed to be added. So I did.

2: Looked as if I had an oil leak up near where the oil pan meets the engine. The bolts holding the pan on had oil on them.

3: Also looked like there was a leak where the transmission bellhousing bolts onto the engine.

Is this call for alarm? Should I take this in to the shop? If so, what do I tell them? I don't want to waste my money on diagnostic fees and other BS.

You're not saying you put 20k miles on your oil, are you? The oil has been changed before, but this is the first time you persoanlly changed it, right? Nah, I don't think there is cause for alarm as long as you keep checking your fluid levels, but if you keep a clean engine you're going to have to fix those leaks!

Shouldn't be a leak where the bellhousing meets the engine, there's no fluid in there...

Could be a bad rear main seal
That would leak between the motor and trans

#1 I had the power steering High Pressure hose replaced because it was leaking through the hose

#2 You might try snugging the pan bolts. The torque on the bolts is not very much, they might be slightly loose. Be carefully, the proper torque is not much more than snug, you don't want to over torque them and ring them off or cut the pan seal

#3 you might take a close look to see if the electrical connector O ring is leaking. Fluid will run down the right front of the trans, maybe looking like it's leaking from the lower engine bolt or bellhousing.

If you notice I said it was the first time I changed it since I owned it...I've only had the car 2 weeks.

I did take it to the dealer, they are replacing power steering hoses. They said they put some dye in the oil but didn't find any leak. Now I've never seen any fluid under my car while its been parked in my garage. But how would you explain the fluids I'm seeing on the bottom of the engine? I am definately not seeing things.

is it possable that whoever did the oil change before you looked under the car spilled some and you are seeing what is left over from that. oil has a funny way of traveling long distances in 80 MPH winds. there could have been a little oil on the drain plug and it was blown to the bell housing. oil spilled when filling the motor could have rundown and got on the oil pan bolts. just clean it off really good and keep an eye on it. if there are any new leaks then i would start to see where they are coming from. untill then there is no cause to panic.

Minor oil leaks= free rustproofing! I'm from Maine, capitol of the salt belt, actually a lot of people spray used oil under their cars as rustproofing. Not recommending , but people do it.
