What yr car do you have? Some LX's, don't remeber the yr, you were able to turn he key foward while driving at a 20 mile roll and it would totally disengage it. But here's the threa with the switch

is this mod the type that i can just switch on and off whenever i want or do i have to shut the engine off and restart the car? also, if i do need shut off the engine, can I put the key into the 'start' position instead? (i know it resets the radio and some other things)

also what gauge wire did you guys use and what amp/volt switch?

I also mounted my switch in the center console.

The engine can be running when you turn it off, but to get the system to function again, you must shut the engine off - then turn the switch back on and restart the engine.

Wire gauge is flexible, I used 16 gauge - 14 gauge would also work.

As for the switch, just use a heavy duty 12 volt switch - there isn't much amperage to deal with.

You will see that the wire you are cutting is pretty small - maybe 18 gauge?
