Anyone have some nice mufflers on their Magnum yet? I've been wanting some mean grumble, but I was curious to find out how they fit. When I was looking under the car, it seemed that the stock mufflers were an odd shape.

Damn Right they are odd shaped!
Quite Frankly, they have a similiar shape to W211 E-Class mufflers. This is the AMG:

the actual pipe routing looks like a straight line though meaning you could use universal performance mufflers, you would just need to be creative with the hangers
things look like a messed up alien probe of some kind. UGH!
I hope the aftermarket can give the Magnum a similiar looking rear to the Cayenne:
Maybe the SRT-8 will have a rear like this. Lets hope.

I thought srt-8 was the model of the concept magnum? Or is it still for the production? Or are you suggesting there is a future version of the magnum thats more like the concept? Little confused here.
Seeing E55 Kev's pictures, looks like another MB-look-alike part ... but that means that it will not be that difficult to shoehorn the E55 mufflers under the bumper for a twin exhaust per side look ...
Better yet, might be a good idea to look at some aftermarket exhaust for MB E55's ... they might fit with little trimming ....

How about simply a muffler DELETE or resonator DELETE mod?
I like how magnumrt states it in another thread:
"Screw putting something in place of the mufflers, there is enough sound deadening units under the LX you could do without a few of them.
True duals with large cat right after the manifolds (1 on each side) immidiatly followed by a smaller cat (again, 1 on each side) flow down 2.5" pipes INTO an X pipe (nice feature) then INTO a "dual muffler" which appears to have joining chambers but I cannot be sure of this. Then moves out to the sides through a pair of funny looking resonators and finaly INTO chrome exhaust tips. Thats right, there is 8 muffling units under the Hemi! get rid of 2 of them, I am sure it will sound nice"

My other rides:
1995 Chevrolet Impala SS . . . 260 HP / 330 lb-ft . . . all stock
2005 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT . . .Hemi-powered Lone Star Edition
P-3 Orion . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 4600 SHP x 4 engines
Inferno Red RT ordered 7/12/2004 . . . gave up on it for a Cool Vanilla RT.
The word is that both the Magnum and 300 will be produced in a SRT-8 version with a 6.1 liter HEMI and around 430HP! I am actually awaiting more details on that prior to getting a Magnum RT.Originally Posted by TheScruDevice

The problem with modifying the exhaust here in California is that it has to remain in its stock configuration to pass and be legal. Meaning...if it has 2 cats per side...it has to stay 2 cats per side. The only thing they will aloow you to DELETE is resonators, they obviously have no effect on emmissions. This is one thing I am absolutely positive about, I have run INTO this on the last 2 cars I've built and had to reconfigure the exhaust systems once the laws got tighter and enforcement got more strict. You used to be able to find guys on every other corner who would "look away" on certain things for an extra $50 but not anymore. They dont let anything slide now. I'm all for a new exhaust system...the stock system is very wimpy on the R/T.

I don't know. I've been looking at the magnum for about a year. As the concept car it was called the srt-8/magnum. I havn't heard anything about a larger engine version. The 5.7 liter that is in the RT now is 430hp. SO what's this about a 6.1 liter? Sure you're not mixing up some information? Where did you come across this?Originally Posted by E55 KEV

The Magnum SRT-8 Concept Car introduced at the LA Auto SHOW in Dec 2002 had a supercharger 5.7 Liter HEMI with 430HP. There are "NO" 5.7 liter Hemi's in any 2005 Dodge Magnum or Chrysler 300C with 430HP at all, if so where did you buy yours while the rest of us have only 340HP? The production cars do not have a Supercharger. There is talk and spy information that there will be a SRT-8 version for both the Magnum and 300 as I said. This talk is also stating that there is a new Hemi planed that displaces 6.1 liters and will "NOT" have a supercharger.
The July 2004 Motor Trend also has a blurb about the upcoming SRT-8 with 6.1 liters. MT says "425-horse Chrysler 300C SRT" FROM here - http://www.motortrend.com/toc/thismonth/
Since your yearly coverage is quite so outdated and misinformed, did you know that the Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6 in hard and softtop forms will come in a few months. The 2005 SRT-6 is built by Mercedes performance division AMG in Germany.

The Magnum SRT-8 concept had a supercharged 5.7L Hemi that put out 430HP. The production Magnum R/T has a naturally aspirated 5.7L Hemi that puts out 340HP. I'm assuming that if they make the SRT-8 with the 6.1L Hemi, it will be naturally aspirated. As they say, "There's no replacement for displacement."Originally Posted by TheScruDevice
