comp 260's can be run without issues. the basic theory was at one time that it would not work. that the lift was too great but that has been proven wrong.

want one? give myself or lee a call. i have a shipment er to the shop as i type this.

It's nothing like that. Me and others are running a KRC 212lx cam, other than a superchip tune there is nothing else needed. BTW... the KRC 212 is a Comp Cam grind, I would bet it's a close cousin of (if not the same as) the 260.

Got over 2K miles on the cam now.

Just out of curiosity, how does that 212 run? Do you have before and after times? Before and after dynos?

    Just interested..........

We tested the Comp 260 at MFO5 in my car. Check out the MOFO forums for dyno runs.

As an aside, I am getting a B&G-flashed PCM that will actually remove MDS in favor of hotter performance than an MDS-enabled hot-flashed PCM. I found that mileage with MDS is just not that much better (26mpg vs 25mpg for me on the highway at a constant 65mph).

With luck the new PCM will show up next week. I'll still keep the MDS-capable lifters and such in the car and, since I am buying a complete replacement PCM and not flashing my original, I can go back if for some horrifying reason I decide I need to.

I ahve a feeling the only performance gained by disabling MDS on an MDS Friendly cam, will be a much more well behaved exhaust note.

I have *never* found a situation where MDS was in the way when I needed power. Cruise control at 75 mpg, MDS kicked in, (exhaust note), if I hit the gas, it downshifts and goes exactly the same way as if I were going 75 without MDS engaged.... It can go from 4 -> 8 so fast (40ms advertised... but even if it was 100ms, a human couldnt tell in this situation... takes longer than that to move the pedal down)...

MDS will stay active on mine with the Flash that should be in the mail. I'll make sure I get some decent tests with MDS on (Cruise, in "D") and MDS off (Cruise, in "5")

    Again, way off topic.

The Mopar Performance Cam should be fine with an MDS enabled PCM. you *Might* need new valvesprings to handle any changes in lift rates...
For tuning: Superchips Helps, a B&G Flash is the best way to go.

where getting rid of MDS is helpful is valve train weight..........there is a SUBSTAINTAL savings for very little money.

MATT............this will allow you to run a larger cam to take advantage of those heads.............stay in touch with CoolV to see what we can accomplish with his ride.

BTW............yes, the 260 WAS tested @ MoFo BUT KRC thought it would be fun to re-create those numbers but on a different ramp style........so while they look the same they are NOT. The XFI uses more aggressive ramps.............thus far I have seen better numbers from the Comp version.

Actually what I was told by my source (sorry but I have to keep some of this close to the vest) was that if MDS didn't have to be allowed for then a whole bunch of possibilities opened up with respect to how the vehicle could be tuned in other areas.
