    MIL issues?

    Greetings All,

First post and all that. Got my first MIL (check engine light) today, at 1207 miles. Only thing I did "unusual" today was a little left foot braking while accelerating. Drove for an hour after that, parked the car, started in hours later, drove to the store, parked, started in again and got the MIL. I drove home normally, checked the gas cap, turned it off and on again, still there. I searched the site for MIL and "check engine light" and read about the transmission/gear slip issues. Was wondering if anybody experienced the same thing and if the light went off eventually. I'm going out of town for a week on business and don't want the lady to drive something "iffy." Any ideas?

My CHECK Engine Light came on around 4000 miles. I took the car in, they gave me a new gas cap, and I haven't seen it again and I'm almost at 7000 miles. Sounds like you may have the same problem

My 2001 Nissan Frontier did the same thing as yours. If it's something that simple, I'll be a happy camper. Thanks for the reply.

I've had this happen to me twice. Neither time could I pinpoint anything specific. Dealer told me it could take as many as 7-10 starts and drives to clear the light. Unless it starts flashing while driving its not causing any damage. So...if it starts flashing at anytime or stays on after 10 drives/starts then take it INTO the dealer. Both times it went out with out ever seeing the dealer.
