Magnum RT delay because of wheels?

My dealer told me that there is a shortage of wheels for the Magnum RT. He told me the vendor can't produce the wheels quick enough and that this delay could last 90 days. Has anyone else heard this rumor?
I don't see anything listed on arifleet.com about wheels for the RT.

Sounds like he is pitching you more B.S. than what will fit in the magnum. RT's are coming down the line like crazy according to the guys at the Brampton Facility. There was a delay for red but that is over and red ones are coming down the line also.

Thanks, I was curious about that. Now the question is, why would he do this? I've had my RT on ORDER since August 1st. It's not like I've been sitting in his showroom everyday waiting for the car to SHOW up. What he has effectively done is made me start wondering if I should cancel my current ORDER and reorder later for a 2006.

Have they given you a VON or a VIN yet?? If they have then I would wait. Also if they have, start tracking it yourself. Keep bugging customer service until you get answers. It is really funny how sometimes when you call you get this person who really knows what is going on and is not afraid to tell you and other times you get this jerk who just wants to get you off the phone.

Also, ask your dealer where your ORDER falls within their allocation. Most will be surprised you even know what that is and most of the time they will give you some info. Just depends on the dealer. I was fortunate in that I found a dealer that was pretty open to giving information but only if you asked the right questions.

Yes, I have a VON, still no VIN. I've been tracking it myself also and it's still in BX status. I did ask him if it was a dealer allocation issue, that's when he told me it was actually a vendor issue, wheel vendor to be specific. I've been dealing with the fleet manager. I've bought vehicles through him before and he’s always been upfront. If I get time, I'll make some more calls today, or better yet, I should go have a face to face. Thanks again.

It sounds like allocation to me. I ordered an RT AWD on August 9th and I had a VIN on August 10th and in D status. I've been in D ever since, but have an estimated build date of Oct 4th.

Might be an allocation issue...he may be BS'ing you so you don't go to another dealer that may be able to get it quicker.

My R/T has been on ORDER since July 10th and still no VIN. Last I was told that Alpine is behind on the NAV unit and will not be shipping until October. Don't know if will be early or late next month. Mine was held up for the sunroof but I know that is no longer an issue. Haven't heard a thing about a wheel delay. The wait just makes it that much sweeter.

I just returned FROM the dealership. My salesman tells me that he feels that he's being fed a line of bull also. He said that he actually has a factory rep coming in for a meeting and hopes to get some real answers. He tells me that he has nine other customers in the same boat. I have a feeling that this is an allocation issue. We did go for a quick ride in an RT that was still filthy as it was just unloaded FROM the truck. Obviously, they're still coming in. What a helluva ride it was! I wasn't driving and thank goodness for that, I wouldn't have tried some of the things he did! There's no doubt that this car will be worth the wait. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go change my shorts!

I have a VON and just ordered my RT last week. How do I CHECK status of the ORDER on my own?

    Thanks,

    Delays...

I ordered Magnum RT on Aug 8 and took del. on Sept 14. No Nav system in my car. My dealer screwed up and didn't have my Magnum ready when I showed up so I had to wait two hours in the showroom. Being the good little spy that I am I got to listen to the manager making all these phone calls to other customers trying to see if they would like a different optioned car instead of the nav system. The nav system is REALLY backed up. It was funny watching the sales manager start to sweat after a while. Most of the customers he called really wanted the nav system and were willing to wait. He was throwing all kinds of additional options and extras instead of the nav system in hopes of moving a some sales along.

Lol MagnumFan... I wish I went on that ride as well.. I'm a little to afraid to wing out the RT yet. Going very slow with the process. I haven't had a NEW car is so long, I'm just enjoying the QUIET for now. Slowly starting to enjoy the performance.... Would be nice to ride in an RT with someone who doesn't care....

I would wait for the NAV system myself. I got one, and although I figured it was sort of gimmicky, I'm very glad I got it now. It integrates all the functions so well, it sorta belongs in the car. The UCONNECT, Stereo, and NAV functions all integrate INTO the interface pretty well.

I was not given any excuses when I ordered my RT, only the be patient line. I ordered on 9/9, and got mine on 10/9. THAT was pretty dam amazing !!! My dealer is rather high volume, so I suspect that it is an allocation issue.

Up at the top the page, click on "How To's"
    Go to "Vehicle Tracker"
It's described there... good luck, I checked mine and I've moved FROM BX to BG... a backwards move!

They tell me it's a "materials issue"
