    Looking for a VIN

Ordered a new RT badge for my 05 from the dealer, no problem. I'm gona stick it somewhere, probably not on the car, cost me 18 bucks. What I wanted to do is order RT badge for 06, the new style. Parts guy said that the car is too new and will need a specific vin number to order the badge. Well I thought that if anyone out there has a 06 RT and wouldn't mind helping me with a mod, I would really appreciate it. What I want to do with the new RT badge is stick in on the ash tray front in the center console. I understand if you if you feel leary, but I swear on my Magnum that I will not use the vin for anything else. PM me :-)

Just go to a dodge dealer and get the VIN off of a 06 on the lot. I did that when I inquired about some interior trim for my 05.

Good idea! Thanks for the suggestion. I doubt if any local dodge dealers in LA have a 06 RT, but it will be fun looking

Great idea, I live 10 minutes from CarMax. Thanks a lot. BTW they had no RT's in December and told me would be 6 months before they got any 05's, guess they didn't know what they were talking about. Thanks again.

I have been on the search for the '06 badges(R/T and HEMI) for a couple months now. since the first pics of an 06 mag were posted here. I have given them a VIN off an 06 for sale on Ebay. no one seems to have a number for them yet....next I will try a VIN off a charger, they share the badges, but since they aren't officially released til June 1st, we may have to wait until then for the parts system to update and the # to be available

Do a dealer search on dodge.com, get the window sticker from a vehicle and there you are.

Not to sound to uneducated it the parts hunt but why would you have to provide a vin # to order a part its not like warrenty will cover it. Or is it a dealer scam with warrenty for new cars to require parts?

the DC parts system has the ability to cross reference parts by VIN #. Providing the VIN gives you only the parts used on that car. With all the slight model variations, this is very handy. It saves the part counter person from having to ask 20 questions to narrow down the field to the exact part you need. The problem with these badges is they are not in the system yet. according to on e parts guy, the DC part system updates on the first of every month. with the launch of the charger being june 1st, Im crossing my fingers and hoping the new badges are entered next week with it.

Badges!, Badges!, we don't need no stink'n badges!
There is a diffference between the 05 and 06 RT badges. 06 has the R/T. Sounds like monkey has done the homework on this one, thanks a bunch. Just goes to show you how well a forum can work for someone. I still plan on trying a vin with my parts guy, I buy $500 to $1,000 a month from him in my business, maybe that will give him some extra incentive, at least the guy sounds promising. I'll update. Monkey, thanks again.

    *update***update**!

I stopped by the dealer today to see if the parts syetem updated with official release of the charger on the first....no dice. It still lists the '05 P/Ns for the '06s.... The parts counter dude was still questioning whether i knew what I was talking about. On my way out I walked past a prep bay with an '06 magnum and new charger sitting in it. I turned around and went back to the parts counter and asked the guy to follow me. He did, and I led him to the cars and pointed to both new emblems and told him 20 people want to know the P/Ns for them. He cross referenced the vin and the '05 #s came up again. I mentioned that it would really suck to own an 06 mag or charger and have a fender bender and not be able to replace the badges. He agreed and said there is someone he could call at DC to get to the bottom of this in the morning. This gentleman so far has been very helpful and has returned calls in a timely manner on such a trivial thing as badges, so I have faith he will follow through. I let you guys know when I hear more.
