    i want 400hp

id like to hit 400hp at the flywheel. is it possible without a cam or ported heads ? im about to order the diablo tuner, good CAI, 180 t-stat, and a cat back exhaust. looking into the JBA shorty headers. has anybody installed these at home ? any advice or info would be great guys

    advice...

skip the JBAs and go with Kooks, and Highflow cats.
You will pick up the most HP with this thanks to the HF cats, and they are not anymore difficult to install than the shorties. They sound better, but make big h.p. difference. Then add the magnaflow exhaust, 180, DIABLO and a srt or Daytona airbox and rock and roll! Good luck... you are not safe you will not stop 400 will not be enough.
I went from 350-500 and now looking for 650. Its just not healthy!
    Good luck

A supercharger will put you at over 400 rwhp without changing the heads/cam.

This is exactly what I've been looking for! Lots of threads about exhaust, intakes, and so on, but I've been looking for a recipe for power. Thanks.

400 is definately just a starting point. i will be looking into ported heads, ported to match 6.1 intake, ported intake, and cam next year. eventually will go with a 426 shortblock when mine needs replacing and depending on how that runs, either a supercharger, turbo, or if its plenty fast enough for a daily driver i will just add nitrous for when i need that extra power, lol. for now im just looking for 400hp

To get to 400 at the crank you need about 330 at the wheels. That is hard to do without at least a cam. I'm not saying it isn't possible.

    I'm assuming a 5.7 here.

There's no way you'll hit 400 @ the crank with just bolt-ons. Unless you consider N2O or any FI a bolt on.

Most with all the available bolt ons hit ~310RWHP.

But, even if you decide on tearing in to your motor, you'll need all those bolt-ons to fully realize the gains.

    You gotta start somewhere.

I just spoke with a customer yesterday that was complaining that he spent over 4,000 dollars going that route
(LT headers, high flow cats, CAI,predator, tstat,Corsa cat back)

He did see decent gains, but I think his car was only making 360-370 RWHP

When you start to add up the cost of all the bolt on items, a supercharger starts looking more attractive. The cool thing is, you can install it on an otherwise stock engine, at low boost levels(4-6PSI) and see the gains your looking for, and then some. Down the road, when you decide to do more work to the engine, you can turn up the boost!!

Take a ook at our laatest special on the Bullet SUpercharger:
Those on the fence about superchargers, step inside...

This supercharger will show you 450+ RWHP on your stock engine!!!

Feel free to let me know if I can answer any questions,

OK people he said 400 at the crank not the wheels! stock your looking 330-350 crank with bolt-ons it's done. Your talking Diablo, CAI intake, exhaust with these done should be close. Heads and cam looking like 500 hp at the crank. If you did do heads and cam you'd fall in love again! Good luck!

ya i agree with factory and metgo ( as always) and late model. Your gonna be hard pressed with just bolts ons. Your talking lots of bolts ons to make this happen where as less money spent on just cam and heads would put ya there. Imo bolt on wise you will need nearly 100hp increase over stock to make 400 at the wheels.
    10 for tb
    5-7 cai
    10 headers
    5 for cat back
30 for cmr tune on 93 octane

already running out of options and not even half way there.

landshark is the only one that can read, lol. i said at the FLYWHEEL, or crank, engine..... not at the wheels. its a 340hp engine from the factory so i only need 60 more hp. the tuner adds about 30hp from ive read, so the CAI and exhaust should do decent and get it close. full exhaust with long tube headers should put it over that easy. and then with those mods in place i will see even better results when i do add H/C/I

30 hp from full exhaust (including headers/flows)
    5 from intake
    10 from pulley
0 from 180 tstat, but it will help keep it cool, less timing retard.
15 from a cmr tune ... the predator might not give you any hp... its a custom tune taht makes the difference..
    (after everything is in)

    give or take...
you need it all to sit around 400.
    so thats..

FactoryD is right, and you cant just add the horsepower #'s that each vendor give ya. it doesnt work that way. You might come close, on a unreliable dyno...
