Unhappy How to end the 1st year - Transmission fluid leak

My 2006 300C has been trouble free until today, when the dealer tells me I have a transmission leak. They are going to fix it on Tuesday, but it sucks to have a tranny problem with only 16.5K on the car, and 10K of those are long highway trips.

I know this is a common problem but typically what milage does it start happening at? Is the fix a real long-term fix, or will the seal fail every x miles?

    Best regards,
    Graham

Well I had 20,000 on mine before it started leaking. I have 1000 on the new one, and I'm told will probably have the same problem soon. Not a big deal if under warranty, and if it isn't, it looks like an easy fix with a set of jack stands.
I believe they use an updated seal, so maybe there will be no probs after.

Mine went at 15k. That seems to be where they go.

    HI,

Mine started leaking this month at just over 8,000 miles, although I've had the car for 18 months. This repair is not a big deal. It took my dealer 45 minutes to fix it and change the oil while I waited.

I must be lucky, have an early build 04/04 and no leaks at 23K miles.

No leak yet on my '06, but my dealer said I can bring it in anytime and they will go ahead and get it right.

O-ring replaced at 15,000 checkup so it was somewhere between 12,000-15,000 miles. Super common problem and it's a freebee replacement under warranty, or at least it was for me @ my 5 Star dealer. They don't come any better around here.

So I guess the next question is whether anyone who has had the seal replaced has needed a second replacement, or does this seem to be a 'permanant' fix to the leak?

After 2 months it started leaking again, so I got the O-rings from Mercedes and it's fine now: Transmission servicing
