    Question Hemi Pecking Getting louder?

I have 9600 miles on my Magnum now and it seems to me the pecking noise is getting a lot louder. Anyone else think theirs is getting louder? Has anyone ever found a cause or had trouble from it yet? Thanks for any help. I do think it is louder with the SC 91 tune maybe. I could be just hearing better!

What's really interesting is that my RT doesn't seem to make this 'tick/peck' noise at all. Wierd..

I don't have any mods other than the flashpaq. It seems worse in cold weather before the car warms up.

I've got about 20,000 miles and it is definitely getting louder. I'd swear it is a lifter. I'm thinking maybe a problem with the MDS hardware partially collapsing. I don't know that Chrysler's figured it out yet, but if they have I'd be glad to hear how to fix it. If I sell this thing someday, I can't imagine a prospective buyer liking that sound.

First thing is removeing the tuning from the vehicle for a number of miles and see if the issue is in the stock program.
I have heard of the tick mainly from the truck guys stock or tuned..

Mines going back in the shop on the 18th for it The last time I dropped it off at the dealer they couldn't replicate it, I dunno, maybe they were deaf. Today, I got one of the techs outside to listen to it and, lo and behold, he said it sounded like a lifter on the passenger side. I usually run synthetic oil in it, but last week I put Dino back in, and I do believe the sound is louder, all the time. Maybe it made it easier to hear. Before I get flamed about switching to dino oil, let me say that I don't think I'll have this thing more than a couple of years. Once the warranty gets close to expiring, it's a goner. I'll let you know what happens.

Oh wow, this is an interesting post because I've heard this too. I have 6250 miles on my Mag.

It does sound like a lifter to me, on the passenger side.

I had 2 pathfinders and a frontier, all V6'es. The valve trains all sounded like sewing machines (if anyone here remembers what those sound like). I used to take them to mechanics and ask if it could be 'fixed', and they would say "thats just what it sounds like".

Its possible that its normal. Not a great sound, but if everyone is hearing it, its not likely its indicitive of a problem. Might just be what it sounds like.

I've had the "Hemi Tick" for all 32,000 miles on my 5/04 built Magnum. I don't worry about it too much. The oil always looks good, it runs 1/4 mile times in the 13's, SC tuned or not, it never goes away.
