    Hemi Delay

Spoke to DC today when I called with my VON and the rep said that they had been told that the RTs were being held up by the Hemi availability. He didn't have any concrete timeframes, but said that between the Magnum, the Durango/Ram, the 300, and now the Jeeps, they weren't keeping up with the demand.

That's news to me. I call them up a couple times a week and ask what the hold up is. On Friday, Monday and today I was told my RT is being built tomorrow (10/6). First time the answer has stayed the same for two calls, let alone three. Brampton guys said there are plenty of Hemis. I think DC customer service is making up things to appease customers.

    Not another delay....

Now the engine. This is almost getting funny. I have had to struggle through every single production delay there has been. FROM the Sunroof, The NAV system, the Sirius Radio, the paint and heated mirrors the 18 wheels and now the actual engine. It is no wonder the local dealer is asking $37,000 for an SXT, w/o sunroof or NAV.

I spoke to my dealer a few minutes ago. I'm still in "D" status. I placed the ORDER on April 24, 2004. Almost 6 months.....

Gotta agree with Bulvot on this one. Our friends on BramptonAssembly.com tell us that though demand for the Hemi is definitely high, so far the Saltillo engine plant has been able to increase production to keep up. I'm sure there's the possibility of minor delays due to delivery scheduling & such, but if there was a prolonged production hold due to Hemi supply, these guys would be the first to know.

I know you guys have considered finding an RT on a dealers lot. They're now showing up at my local Dodge dealer. However, I understand if you can't find exactly what you want. In the meantime, you're missing one heck of a good ride!! :D

I can understand your frustrations waiting for a car that never seems to come. I ordered an red RT on 6/29 and waited 11 weeks before I luckily found one within a 100 mile radius FROM me. If it is any consolation the car is everything you are hoping it will be. The wait however is at best, unreasonable. I had never owned a DC product and towards the end of my wait I started to wonder if I should. But after 3 weeks of driving the car I was convinced I had made the right choice. Now my beautiful inferno red beast sits in the bodyshop at my work awaiting frontal collision REPAIR FROM my wifes mishap with a fortified stopsign. I at least get to see it every week day but have had to put the old torino INTO daily service until the RT is back in action. I call it IRONY. You get the car you want, but cannot drive it.

Well, the way he described it was that it was slowing things down, but not coming to a halt. You ordered yours back on 8/9, so after 8 weeks your ORDER finally reached the front of the line.

Incidently, what this guy told me also mirrors what the salesperson said when I was placing the ORDER and giving me a timeframe of 6-12 weeks - they said that with the Jeeps "stealing" some hemis, it would be engine availability that pushed mine closer to the 12 than the 6 weeks.

I'm patient - I sold my 71 Satellite Sebring Plus (383 Slapstick auto) and have used that to pay off my student loan with extra left over. We'll be trading in my wife's LHS, so I'll just have to bear the burden of my option-ed out '02 Durango SLT Plus for a few more weeks :P

I think all these delays your salesman keeps coming up with is total BS. I ordered my RT on 8/9/04 fully loaded. I mean EVERYTHING. Reason I had to ORDER was to get the tow package. During that period, I kept hearing about all these delays for various things and reasons. I was getting very nervous.

Mine was delivered on 9/9/04. That is 4 weeks.

I think it might be a dealer allocation problem.

I received a call FROM my dealer yesterday, they called to tell me that it's 'actually happening', the car is scheduled to be built and delivered sometime in November (ordered in Sept.).

 Mineral Grey RT, Dark Slate Gray/Medium Slate Gray Interior Color, DVD Navigation, Convenience GROUP II , Electronics Convenience Group, Protection GROUP , UConnect.
