The Gibsons and the JBA's will work just fine on the AWD. I haven't heard of anyone not running cats. But HHP has the high flows for the AWD's now. And yes the combo is worth the cost.

Any of the shorty headers should work just fine for the AWD.

JBA seems to be the favorite over the Gibson's.

Are you asking about OPEN headers? No cats, no cat back..... That would be LOUD and pretty much unacceptable anywhere.

Thread title is no cats and then you say no cat back. I wouldn't reccomend running it that way.

The ideal setup for the AWD R/T would be the JBA shortys, hi-flow cats then a good quality cat-back like the Corsa for the best flow, and NO CODES

Installed the Gibson shorties on my AWD with no fitment issues whatsoever. I was already running the Borla 112 catback - exhaust note got throatier but not really louder. There is definitely a percieved gain, especially on the low end. The JBAs will likely give you even better low end because of they have bigger primary tubes...

I think you should fire it up that way just for yourself while you're doing the install... you'll cream yourself. Grinner had a video of his car revvin up that way. It's sick. if you thought about doing that for the sake of the sound, I'd seriously suggest electric dumps. My buddy has 'em on his '01 WS-6... with a LOT of motor work. The thing sounds absolutely insane with them open. Basically like being trackside at a Nascar race. You'll not have any code-throwing issues as long as you put them in behind the second pair of O2 sensors.

I was thinking of headers with the rest stock to keep noise down how much gain would I lose by not running cats, from what I,ve been reading catbacks don,t add that much, so I figure do headers , keep it a little quiet,r

It wouldn't be worth the effort. If anything I would suggest the high flow cats over just the headers. But if you want a quite exhaust, get the Corsa, nice and quite at idle and cruz speeds and then opens up when you want it the most.

    Now I got you.

Not running cats.... you'll throw codes. If they do emissions testing where you are, you'll FAIL.

The cat-back won't add that much UNTIL you do the headers and cats.

Doing the headers and Hi-Flow cats will not change your sound very much at all.

You will see some gains from doing that, but then the restriction becomes the stock cat-back, specifically the rear resonators. The suitcase is actually a good flowing piece.

As bipto and CAM said... Gibson or JBA shorties are the only options for us... I've done everything on the exhaust but the headers at this point... when I do Them I'm gonna make sure to do a coating... I think there is some real advantage to keepting the heat in the pipes where they belong.
