    Happy to have an '05

I was getting code P0308 (misfire cyclinder 8). Turned out it was a burnt valve. I have 39,000 miles on the car.

The bill was just under $800, but was covered with the 7yr/70,000 warranty with a $100 deductible.

    Aren't the '06's 12/36?

Did you see the valve? I burned a valve in a V6 Mazda once due to bad gas. Looked like somone had cut out a v with a torch. Burned one in a 4cyl Mazda due to a cracked cyl head, had to look close to see the burned area.

No, I didn't see the valve, but you have a good point. Right after I had the plugs changed it happened for the first time. The dealership mentioned that I could have had some bad gas. I always use 93 octane, but that doesn't mean it couldn't have been bad.

I was concerned that it might have been a Superchips issue, but I don't think it was. Anyway, its fixed and tommorow it's WOT time for a test.

Fixing the problem and not finding out the cause, does not give me a warm, fuzzy feeling.

Suppose they just keep fixing it until the warranty runs out?

    Then what?

Three strikes rule would apply. They own the car. I would be wanting a scope pic of the injector current draw to see if one is hagning up and causing a lean condition.

Is the 7/70,000 standard factory warranty on the 05s or is it the extended? Thanks

It was the regular drivetrain warranty on the '05. The 06's are 3 years/36,000 miles.
