    Got my PCM flashed

Well.... I took my Magnum in to get the PCM flashed. (I used the rough idle excuse)

They flashed the PCM to the latest version. I immediately checked and the CCN ver. number available in the EVIC didn't change.

I did a very nice little burn out at the first light that gave me an opportunity. The acceleration seems a little bit improved and it also seems to be shifting a little more solidly.

One definate change I have seen is in fuel economy. I am quite a lead foot and usually hover around 11 or 12 in city driving. Right now, with lots of testing of the new found power and shifting I am seeing 14 mpg.

We are going on a longer road trip tomorrow so I should be able to see just how much improvement there is in the fuel economy then.

I am very happy with the PCM flash and recommend that anyone who has build date before 2/05 upgrade to the latest firmware as it seems to make a big difference. I think either rough idle or poor fuel economy complaints will get you the reflash.

How do you check to see what version you have if you don't have the EVIC?

When I had mine in the dealer last week, I asked them to flash it and they said it already had the most recent version. The car was built in 7/04. You said anything before 2/05 should need it. I wonder if they are yanking my chain. Wish I could check it myself. Thanks for the info.

I don't know, perhaps they had previously flashed your PCM. If you look in the TSB database that coolvanilla posted you should be able to find the one that is related to rough idle.

I described my idle trouble this way:

Idles roughly when started and driven short distance and then put into park while still cold. RPMs fluctuate between 670 and 550.

    PCM replaced: rough idle

I had the rough idle too: twice.
Each time it was extremely hot; had auto-air on.
Started the Hemi: ran rough, BAS light came on, Throttle light flashed.
Drove: no power, no brakes. Turned off, waited 30-60 seconds, restarted & it was fine.

Two days later the same thing, nearly same conditions.

I left it at the dealer. I waited 5 days for the new PCM to arrive.
My ticket read that there were so many codes registering on the diag that they called the factory, were referred to the Sherwood Plant, etc etc etc.

FINALLY, on Friday, it was mine.

Any real difference? Hard to say. I live by the Auto-Stick, and that did seem a bit tighter. Will try a burn out tomorrow!

Yes, it's much tighter. Much more get up & go.
(of course, after not having my HEMI for a week, anything would seem better!)

Might even say Peppy or Zippy. Can you say that about a Mopar HEMI!!???
Sorry, forgot. This ain't my Neon anymore!

Info from dealer about my update

I had mine flashed back in March 05. Car was built 12/04.

Here's the notes from the Invoice

    Customer complained of rough idle

    TSB 18-021-01 Rev. A - 08194793 4.7L Engine Performance Enhancements
    TSB 18-031-04 08-19-47-93 15 0.8 Flashed ECU

    Sorry, that's all I got.

Still did not fix the rough idle.

Well I went to the dealership today. Mysteriously when I got back to my office to check the TSB and now it only applies to the 2.7 and 3.5 well I ordered a glove box light switch while I was there. I specifically stated that I was having a rough idle. The stupid service writer was like "the idle is computer controlled and not adjustable." I was sitting there "yeah I know, that's why there's a TSB and a firmware update available through the starscan" so after two hours, basically they printed out what she said. I told parts guy I was going to cancel the order cause the service writer's being a bitch so then he comes back a minute later with the actual tech that worked on the car. He says they hooked it up to a router and ran the scan for updates and it didn't find any, just one DTC for an incompatible CD in the Radio and they did the ETC relearn, which he says is done through the starscan also. He also assured me that if there was any updates he'd want to do them since they get 1/2 hour of labor for something that takes him 5 minutes of time. He also said that if I can bring back the right TSB they'd punch it in and try to look it up.

OK all, here's my experience today at Longhorn Dodge in TX. My Mag RT was built in 10/04 and has always shown, via EVIC, software version 3.61. Took it in because they got the part to replace the motor for intermittent rear passenger window problems. They replaced that and when they ordered the part I also showed them TSB for A/C problems so a flash was added to the list of to-do items. They fixed the window and flashed the car. Results, the tech told me the car already HAD the latest flash for A/C so there was no change (odd because the TSB is for my build but since I didn't buy the car until 4/05 they said they did all the updates when they got it on the lot). Anyways, he said it DID take on 3 new flashes, one for headlight dimming which I never had a problem with, one for radio volume issues which I also never saw but I don't have the 6 disk changer or SAT radio, and THE BIGGIE, one for rough idle/shift point adjustment. So I'm confident my A/C won't do the hot-air thing but I REALLY noticed a change in the way the tranny shifts and overall s**t-n-git has perked up considerably. No charge for any of this by the way. 90 minutes and out the door. Am leaving Thursday for a road trip to Chicago (1,000 miles each way) and can't wait to get started. Oh, yeah, EVIC still shows CCN 3.61 so that should put that question to rest.

    Got Flashed

    USED ROUGH IDLE EXCUSE.

I had the flash done a few days ago. I haven't really drove the car much since so i have no opinion right now. The invoice reads tsb# 18-031-04. How do you know what sw was loaded? On the invoice there was this to 3 w40 0.80 and a part number of 4275086ab ????

    Any help would be great.

whenever a module is flashed, it is updated to the latest software version available for that module's part number at the time of the flash. new software could come out tomorrow. you just never know.
Izzy pics money talks. unfortunately, mine usually says... "good bye!"

Just had 9,000 mile service and took them a copy of the TSB for the A/C working intermitantly. PCM was flashed.

It may be just a head thing..... but it does feel like the car is running MUCH better. It feels like there is more torq and better throttle responce. The A/C is now blowing cold air everytime I run it. I had also posted a message a while back about my exhaust stinking like rotten eggs when I run the car WOT for a 1/4 mile or so. It's not stinking anymore. Could be the Citgo I put in the tank last time too. Won't know for sure till I fill up with Exxon (Always made it stink) next time.

    Copy of work order...
