Thanks to the fine workmanship of FastMatt at Dynamic Racing (DR), and a well-designed new cam, my DR stage II heads-equipped 300C just dyno'd at 400 ft lbs of torque, 383 hp, the first normally-aspirated 5.7L LX engine to ever break the 400 barrier. This from a car that retains near-perfect driveability.
Matt replaced my existing Comp 260 cam with a Littleboy from Frank Racing (FR), removed MDS, and replaced my existing Mopar headers with the first set of custom Kooks port-matched headers ever built for the 5.7l LX Hemi. I had worked directly with Kooks for several months and provided them the template required for them to get these port-matched headers perfect.
I also had ProTorque's 3800-stall torque converter installed while in Matt's shop. This great device should make the car several tenths quicker at the track, but, reportedly, results in a power loss on the dyno. So it's possible that horsepower is, in reality, at or above the 400 mark as well, assuming a stock TC.
I'll likely debut her at the track in her new form Wednesday night. Looks like I'll be doing so in my street tires, as I've worn my BFG DRs down to the steel mesh on both tires, and my new wheel/tire setup is not yet completed, so she'll be .3 shy of where she would be with an optimum set of racing wheels and tires. Solid 12s at 110 or so is my guesstimate for how she'll fare.
Thanks again to all involved in bringing this long-planned next-phase upgrade to fruition. My sweet C is definitely at a whole new level of performance.
