    Factory Roof Rack

I got my Magnum R/T with the factory roof rack. My question is: Does the roof rack consist only of the longitudinal rails or does it come with crossbars? Dodge couldn't tell me, and I saw an SXT on the dealer lot with what appeared to be factory crossbars???

    HI Mag-man,

Yea, I was wondering that myself, cause I NEED those to carry my surf-boards....

It comes with the cross-bars. Not only that, but some of the best engineered ones I've seen yet. They go on and off VERY EASILY !!

So, they can stay off for looks, and are quickly mounted for use... Very nice job DC

I don't think they are very robust though. Would'n't want to put a whole lot of weight on them. But, that is pretty standard for factory stuff. Have to go aftermarket for any serious weight situations.

That said, they should be fine for skii's, snowboards, surfboards, bikes, that sorta stuff. I notice that DC also sells one of those cargo boxs for the Magnum as well,. These can get quite heavy if loaded up. I think the suggested LIMIT is probably about 150 lbs, but not too sure on that...

It seems to very on whether or not you get the bars for free with the rack. I had to pay for them. $69 each. The weight LIMIT is 150 lbs.

I have the roof rack, two cross bars came with the package. The do have a weight limitation of 150 lbs. The are very easy to remove and install. I keep mine off when I have no use for them, as they do create wind noise, especially with the sunroof open.

Mine came with the crossbars, no extra charge. I think the dealer is trying to gouge a little extra profit FROM you. What good is a roof rack without the crossbars?!!! CHECK the Dodge website, I believe those pictured with the rack have crossbars on them. Like Blanchman said, the rack is well engineered, and I too leave the bars off unless I need them. Makes it easier to wash/ dust off the car too.

Thanks to those who responded-After telling the dealer my fellow forum members said they got crossbars with their racks (and going out INTO the lot with my service advisor to SHOW him the 3 Magnums on the lot with racks had crossbars) I am expecting them on Monday- no charge.

As stated earlier, the rack does come with 2 cross rails. I have put mine away because I think the car loos better without them, but more importantly, it is quieter with them gone. Other than looks, the roof rack is almost useless. However, IMHO, since this is a wagon, a wagon should have a roof rack. It looks lind of bare without it.
    Enjoying the Ride!
