I really have to stop making an ass of myself in public. Went to a buddy's housewarming party Saturday afternoon. Good people, good time. A few nice cars (and a lot of pickups, soccer-mom specials, etc) but the Magnum pretty much hogged all the guy talk (me beaming like proud papa all the while). Me and my wife are leaving and it's at the end of a cul-de-sac in a rural neighborhood so I decide it's the perfect time to spend 1,000 miles of Conti rubber in 10 seconds. Decide to leave the adoring fans something to talk about after we're gone (even completed the foolishness by tipping off a couple of people what I had planned). First I ran the throttle calibration like a good maniac should. Now I'm staging the friggin' thing like John Force, back it up to the end of the block, ESP off, autostick in 1, brake pedal down, rev to 4 grand, slip off the brake and it launches dead-straight like a scalded cat all the way to the end of the block and NEVER so much as CHIRPED the tires! I'm friggin' mortified!!!...lol. Listen I think it's great these things launch so clean but where did I go wrong? Just me (190 lbs) and my wife (130 lbs) and about 50 lbs of crap in the back. Cold tire pressure 31psi. I've seen so many neat burnout videos posted here, do you have to red-line it? Only 3,700 miles and no wear showing, are the tires too new? I'm going to have to eat so much s**t at the bar next weekend after golf. Although one guy did call my cell phone and said, "that sucker is fast!". Made me feel a little better. <Sigh>
