Dodge not advertising Hemi 4/8 cylinder yet...

You notice how Dodge is not even advertising the benefits about the 4/8 cylinder running of the hemi's. I have told a lot of people this feature and no one seems to know about it. I for one love it and am totally pleased with the gas mileage we are getting. Once people know about this, the demand will skyrocket for sure!

They may be playing it down because of the Caddy 8-6-4 system that proved to be a nightmare. The DC system is much better and more reliable.

They elude to it (MDS) during the 300C commercials but they won't really start to push it until sales start to cool down if ever

no joke. when the dealer told me "four cylanders shshut down" i almost walked off the lot. i razzed him about internals turning to mush until he took me to the service guys, who broke open the books and let me read about it.

limiting mechanical parts to the lifters with fire/gas control managing the rest thru the ecu is definatly a lot more reliable. i just have a feeling that this is why the aftermarket guys are HAVING no luck makeing a new chip. i just dont think most if any of them are prepared for that

    MagnumFreak,

You're absolutely right about the Caddy's reputation. My dad had one of the 4-6-8 caddy's. He constantly had it in the shop. GM took a beating on it.

I don't blame Chrysler for not advertising the MDS. They did not develop MDS to use as a marketing tool to sell cars. Chrysler used it to keep their CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) mileage numbers up. Here is a description/definition of CAFE: "The fuel economy ratings for a manufacturer's entire line of passenger cars must average at least 27.5 mpg for the manufacturer to comply with the standard. [If a manufacturer does not meet the standard, it is liable for a civil penalty of $5.00 for each 0.1 mpg its fleet falls below the standard, multiplied by the number of vehicles it produces."

Just imagine if Chrysler didn't have the MDS in the HEMI's and produces as many of the R/T's and C's we think will be on the road in the future. Chrysler would be paying a lot of fines for non-compliance to CAFE.
