Did you buy above or below MSRP?

Going to start looking soon for a 300 or Magnum, more likely a 300. Has anyone had any luck at getting his or her car below MSRP?

Any ideas on negotiation tactics? What has or hasn't worked for you.

I’ve been looking at getting one with a 3.5, sunroof, sound system and am leaning towards getting a lighter color over a darker one.

Got my Magnum a couple grand below MSRP in addition to the rebate. There is a thread somewhere on this sight called haw much did you pay CHECK it out. I would think one with the 3.5 should be easy to get a deal on as the Hemis are the hottest item. I tried out the 3.5 and it has very good power also.

It will probably be fairly difficult to get a hemi magnum/300 that much under msrp. Just about every dealer in the bay area has been marking them up. Though I think some of the hype has dyed around here so your chances are probably better then a few months ago.

I got my magnum rt at MSRP in addition to the 1000 rebate at Lithia Dodge in Fairfield.

After about an hour at Barber dodge in Vallejo, they finally offered me an SXT at the MSRP.....of the RT!!! At which point I walked out and never looked back. Went to Lithia that same evening.

Barber called me a few days later, as expected, and said they are ready to try to get me in an RT again. I asked him if he wanted me to drive mine over there and then told him that they wouldn't even get my parts or service business.

    That was a great comeback.

I paid 1k + 1k rebate below msrp. When I asked the dealer (Florida) what his offer was and he quoted sticker I laughed.

    My tactics:
    1. had one on ORDER - couldn't wait but was willing to
    2. know the lingo: allocation, VON, holdback
    3. knew his inventory - he said this was their only RT they were going to get - BS they just sold 1 last week
    4. stuck to my guns - when the over-the-phone deal was reached I gave my terms (no dealer sales crap, etc - make your own up - you would be surprised what you can get away with - hats, t-shrits, etc)
    08/05/04 Ordered
    08/06,13,20/04 BX
    09/17,29/04 NOT yet BX ??

That is a tactic I used when buying my (family's) 1991 Honda Accord. Being able to get up and walk is a good tool. I'm more attached to the new 300's because I'm sick on Mopars and want one bad because of the rear wheel drive. That is what scares me. But HAVING many sources in the area can be a benefit when shopping and I’m not under the gun to buy one soon so I can work them for it.

I plan on trying at the end of December, last day of, or the end of January to hopefully have more leverage. Same thing as I did with the Honda and got a killer deal on it. They were going for a good markup then and got it below MSRP.

    Thanks for the replies

1% below invoice + $1000 through CFC. Affiliates discount through my employer.

It's too bad the SRT-4 isn't offered with this discount - there are a couple of die-hard import guys who would switch in a heartbeat to the SRT-4 if they could get the discount.

    New Magnum RT

I just picked up my new Magnum RT yesterday. Paid $200 over invoice plus got the $1000 FROM CFC. Not connected with Chrysler in any way so no under invoice deals available to me. I got the first RT that the dealership had gotten. Was going to ORDER but this one was just like I would ORDER except it was lacking one option, the side airbags. Since I only plan to keep it for 3 years I decided I could live without them rather than wait 16 weeks or more for a special order. Since they gave me what I consider to be a good deal I just went for it. They have a black 300C coming in in a few weeks that is still available and someone could get a pretty good deal on it. Here in rural KS the big problem is just getting the Hemi powered models.

    Friends and Family Discount

I have a neice that works for Chrysler Credit ... they have a thing called the Friends and Family Discount. She gets me a code and I have bought my last three Chrysler products (including my Magnum) for 1% below invoice less any aplicable rebates.

It might serve you well to make sure there isn't someone somewhere that you know that works for DC.

Thanks, this tells me that I can work them close to invoice. I know that they get kick backs FROM Chrysler. I probably need to travel for the best deal.

I just priced out a Magnum RT w/o navigation. With the CFC $1000, and my Chrysler discount, I'm going to be driving off the lot at $31k.
