Chrysler Sales Sept 2008 - Magnum WAY down

Latest numbers show a 99% decline in sales of the Dodge Magnum. Total sales last month was 35 vehicles (down from 3628 last year).

Looks like it was a great idea to discontinue the Magnum. One or two thousand Magnums a month seems like a much bigger deal now.

Well, they quit making them in March, and they haven't advertised the Magnum since sometime in 2005... what would you expect? There can't be many left on any lot other than "used" inventory.

    That's pretty funny stuff.

You can't buy what they don't make or have in stock anymore.

looks like the caravan and viper are the only ones selling.

I don't think I saw one 2008 Magnum at either Chrysler dealer here this year. I tried locating one through the Chrysler.ca and had no luck.

Exactly... can't sell it if it doesn't exist. '08 production was very low and stopped about 6 months ago anyway. Anything left on the lot is an accident.

Anybody know how many ToRed '08 SRT8 Magnums were built? Now that might be something to throw in your car collection.

I would have to agree with the above statements
I know of a dealership in Indianpolis that has 2 08 Magnums, problem is, they are both base models
If they were SRTS or R/Ts would be interested. I think the 2 in Indy have the 2.7.... (I rented a 2.7 Charger last year when I was in DC for training. It wasnt a lot of fun to get on the on ramps...)
Now we have an 05 Magnum RT and an 06 Charger R/T ...
On ramps are a lot of fun nowadays

like everyone said. u cant sell something u dont produce or stock.

i have visited at least 10 dodge dealerships in the DC/MD/VA area in the last 6 months and they all say they sold zero 08 magnums cos they had 0 on their lots.

    most people ordered the 08s

I'm keeping my eyes open for a Magnum now that the prices are going down.

I've wanted one for a long time, and it would be nice to have an all mopar fleet of cars.

I've seen 05's go for almost $10,000. The time to buy is truly now.

The theory a year ago that Chrysler needed to eliminate the Magnum (and its 1000-3000 units per month) so it would have capacity to build the Challengers seemed possibly reasonable.

Now with sales of the Charger down some and the 300 down a bunch they certainly have the spare capacity to build Magnums. If their marketing was not so poor, the demand would exist and it would be easy to make 30,000 a year.

Maybe they could make it a pre-order type vehicle for those of us that really need one. When they have enough orders to make a financially viable run (including police versions that must be in some demand) they produce the Magnum only parts from the last tooling/forms/plans etc. and make a run of them.

    Wishful thinking I am sure.
