    changing my oil!

    ok so i thought my 5.7 hemi uses 5w30 but it turns out it's 5w20 so i got 7 quarts of royal purple in my garage that a bought a while back, but i see websites selling 5w30 for the 5.7L...so my question is it ok to use 5w30?

    Well, you can use it if you dont want MDS to work. The MDS is programed to work with 5W 20 oil only. As far as it hurting anything, Im not sure, but I wouldn't do it.

    early 5.7L ram trucks used 5W30.
    all LX 5.7L use 5W20. MDS may not operate properly on 5W30.

    thanks for the advice MP & fnky...thats a no no on the 5w30
