Red face Car won't turn off!!!!

Recently my RT has been having a little issues. The car wont turn off when the key is out, it will come to a choking stop anywhere from a couple of seconds later to up to a minute. The check engine light comes on and goes off after a couple of incidents, and then comes right back on. Went to the dealership twice now and the car is tripping about 41 codes, and the geniuses can't figure it out. They are blaming it on my aftermarket radio, but I can't see how that has anything to do with the car not turning off? Anybody Have any clues what could be going on?

    Nope --

    How many miles?
Did it do it before you changed your radio?
What kind of gas (brand & octane) are you using?

Are you pulling our leg? Just a "friendly" check, that's all.

could be possible that after the stereo install, there can be some wire crossed over with some other wire(s) in turn, sending power to the ignition sys... just a wild guess... that's IF the problem was there before the install...

Try turning it off while still in gear. It won't fix the underlying problem but may get the motor to shut off immediately.

No offense, but I have trouble imagining a "competent" dealer (I know, I know -- that's a rare commodity) letting you take that car home TWICE without finding what the problem is (this isn't the Middle Ages).

You must be kidding -- you seem awfully nonchalant about this (I would be ballistic).

    Anyway -- good luck.

something is feeding F202 circuit, 20 guage pink/grey wire in cavity 11 of PCM C1 connector (the black one). usually caused by aftermarket remote start. you must find what is feeding this circuit. factory radio uses CAN BUS signal to determine ignition key position. if your aftermarket radio is not using CAN BUS, it is most likely spliced into ignition switch output circuit F20 at ignition switch. this circuit feeds circuit F202.
long story short, aftermarket radio is a definite possible cause.

Thanks for some of the replies, I will look into the wiring situation. At this point the idiots at the dealership wont touch this car anymore, I will find another dealer that is close to see if they do better then the last trained monkeys. I have so many things installled that it's hard to tell what is causin this:

    Viper alarm with auto-start
    Jvc aftermarket radio
    Headrest monitors
    Ps2
    Rearview lcd mirror
    Jl subs
    Jl amp
Just put in trailer wiring harness
    HID headlights

So it's a little hard to tell which one of these is causing the problem, but I guess I'll start tracing all wires to figure it out myself.

Possibly the left pinion circuit, shorting out the automatic overlay system that feeds the ignition cut-out switch that leads to the computer sending relay is shot? OK... how about the computer is freaking out the ignition timing circuit? With 41 codes, I'd guess that the computer is Tango Union.

Forgive me for being a wise ass (hey, I'm from NY, I can't help it:-)) but with all this STUFF that didn't come with the car and all the different people (assuming you didn't have this stuff all installed at the same time) splicing into a very complicated wiring and electrical system, don't you think that there might be some eentsie-weentsie possibility that the dealership "idiot monkeys" might be on to something when they say it's caused by your aftermarket accessories?
Why should they have to fix someone else's screw-up. They have no diagrams for the aftermarket STUFF. The underneath of your dash must look like spaghetti by now! Electrical problems are difficult enough to fix without some butt-connector-wielding-aftermarket-electrical-engineer-wanna-be messing with wiring he doesn't understand! Go with what FNKYCHKN says. He knows his sh*t. I'll bet almost anything it's the aftermarket STUFF. I sincerely wish you luck in getting this resolved, but getting mad at the dealer isn't gonna help you.

You know what?, I agree with the Yankee -- after seeing all that's been wired in, those guys --@ the dealer -- are sayin "you're on your own" -- really can't blame them.

Disconnect all the wizardry and start over -- it's apparently something you did.

usually when i get an electrical problem that i suspect is caused by an aftermarket accessory, i give the customer the choice of either going back to the installer to have him disconnect it and let the customer try it for a couple of days or i will chase it down until i find the cause. if the cause turns out to be a factory component, warranty will cover it. if it turns out to be caused by aftermarket accessory, customer must pay for ALL diagnostic time. they usually go for option one.
