I have a delima I am putting in a spartan cam today but my 6.1 valve springs won't be in till next week has anyone ever ran a cam with 5.7 springs for a couple days and gotten away with it I just need to turn the car on and make sure it runs and just let it idle but I don't want to hurt the car

That doesn't make sense. If you're going to install the springs in a few days, why wouldn't you just wait and do it all at once?

PPP stage 3 heads, Howards cam 219/227 .600/.575 112 +4, MMPG stage 1+ ported 6.1 intake & 85mm throttle body, LMI 4" true CAI, MSD "Blaster" coils, JBA headers & mids, Corsa exhaust, Paramount "Dominator" torque converter & stage 2 valve body, Tranzformer shift kit, BC Racing coilovers, Eibach sways, BWoody links, Razorsedge brace, 226mm Getrag 3.91 LSD, Wilwood "plus 2" big brake kit by TCE, Vossen CV3s & Nitto 420s, tuning by Robert Dito of Ditos motors
Because I am very impulsive and don't have patience lol
Then your in the wrong hobby bud. Lots of mistakes will happen with that attitude
On a side note even a broken clock is right twice a day. It could be ok Or you could break a spring, drop a valve and wipe out the whole short block or even the whole motor. So I ask you,Do you feel lucky punk?![]()
Save yourself labor and headaches. Wait and do it all at once. The cam does you no good if you can't go out and stomp on it, and with the stock springs you will either putt around and have no fun, or succumb to temptation and break something...
Eibach Pro-kit springs, dampeners, and sway bars,BWoody front sway links, K&N Intake, Predator tune by Stu, 180 T-stat, BT park lock replacement and catch can, Pedders tension strut bushings & bump-steer kit, Blastin' Bob's 4db resonator kit, Inertia Super Spartan cam,6.1 springs & pushrods,JBA shorties, 6.1 pulley, '08 Charger 18's with 235/55/18 Toyo Versados front, 255/5518 Yokohama YK580's rear, R1 Concepts premium front rotors, PosiQuiet pads
Yea I have to agree man. Do not do it. I am very impulsive as well but I have learned restraint for the better of my car. I hear you on wanting to run it with your new cam but it may not end up working out for you in the end and then your gonna have to wait a lot longer than a couple of days to hear it run.
Mopar Or Bust
6.1 Cam, 180 T-Stat, K&N Typhoon CAI, Predator with Custom Tune, Underdrive Pulley, Magnaflow Cat Back, BT Lock Out, Taylor Shorties and Much, Much More To Come.
I'd wait, catch a ride to work for a few days and not gamble on the chance of messing up your engine. BTW - Are you just upgrading to 6.1 springs and not the pushrods with your new cam? I thought proper insurance coverage for a 5.7 was both!?!....6.1 timing kit wouldn't hurt either while your at it....![]()

Yeah Im doing the rods and springs and I did the 6.1 timing set when I had the cam out. I'm just gonna suck it up and wait the couple days I swear waiting for car stuff is worse than waiting for Christmas when we were kids
I would just wait and do it right. I also can understand just wanting to here it run. Good luck with your cam install.
