    AWD on the 1/8th track

I was out last night at Music City raceway, an 1/8th mile track up in the hills.

    Music City 6/12/2007

    RT----------- .3650------ .1340------ .2820------ .0510------ .2410------ .610
    60ft---------- 2.081 ------2.148 -----2.036 ------2.124 -------2.030 ------2.020
    330ft -------- 5.844 ------5.893 -----5.771 -------5.84 --------5.732------ 5.71
    594ft--------- 8.364 ------8.404----- 8.274------- 8.330------ 8.220------- 8.187
    1/8 time---- 8.931------ 8.968----- 8.837------- 8.890 ------8.779------- 8.744
    1/8 Speed- 79.38------ 79.74----- 79.94------- 80.35------- 80.54------ 80.80

    RPM---------- idle--------- 1250------ 1000-------- 1800------- 1000------- 1000
    Launch

So for your guru's, what should have been my dial-in for the last run, considering the first 5 runs. Also note the change in 60ft times versus the launch RPM's

Temp was 84 at the start, 82 at the end. The last two runs were after dark.

it shows you were picking up speed as the night grew cooler.

An 8.79 wouldn't have been a bad dial in..........

    Are you spinning?

No spinning at all, just goes.

I asked because one of your worst runs was on the 1800 launch.............would "assume" it was due to traction issues.

I am suprised its not hooking any better..........

What do the AWD cars weigh?

How can I get better "hooking" if I am not spinning at all?

    About 4400 pounds.

I used an 8.79 dial in. As you can see by the last run, I broke out.

    I dunno..............thats why I asked.

It would "seem" that something is wrong if you bring the RPM's to 1800 yet it goes slower..........

I think the 8.79 was a good "guess".............I would have made the same mistake.

However, when braket racing, I like to be up front vs chasing.........

I like to have a half a car on the other guy then release off the gas the last 30 - 50 feet............

the AWD cars bog a bit Lee. That probably explains the difference between the 1000 RPM and 1800 RPM launches.

I seem to get better performance when I leave at Idle... but maybe I'll give the 1000 RPM a shot again.

Knowing the sun was going down and depending on how long the car sat I would have gone with a 8.6 something.....probably 8.69.Once you went 8.7 you should have dropped a half a tenth for the dial in.

I agree, if I had just run an 8.77, no way I'd go with a .79 dial, maybe .70

Great times for an AWD. Translated to 1/4 times, that should be 13.5's to 13.9's.

If you can solve your problem, then what is the need of worrying? If you cannot solve it, then what is the use of worrying?

If the Transfer casse and Front diff canhandle the torque a Converter would be worth a ton on an AWD.Maybe 3-4 tenth's.

I don't really feel any "bog". It just keeps picking up RPM's smoothly.

The last run was the breakout.

How much would the labor be to change the convertor?

By the way, I surprised the heck out of a 350Z on the fourth run. I guess he was not expecting to view my tailights at the 60ft. The other cars I ran were all older cars running for fun, except on the first run with a 7 second Nova.

Pretty big difference at the 60' though... a full tenth... Did it feel any different at all?

Converters are about $1200+ out the door. Carfinish has a thread quoting specific prices... Folks on the East end up in Connecticut for the install.
