All spark plugs gone bad, anyone else?

Just called the Dodge place, my car had 7 bad spark plugs, they said it was the weirdest thing they ever seen. Anyone else had this problem? Is there a thread already about it, if so, can you direct me to it. Sorry if this is a repeat, but this concerns me. The plugs should not have gone bad like that, and already, weird.

I didn't get the details, since my husband just talked to him, I'll have more info later when we pick my car up this afternoon.

My malfunction light came on, the one with the little engine, yesterday and it had this wonky bumpy idle when it first started. It had been doing this for quite awhile, but after a few seconds it would be fine, and then it was absolutely terrible yesterday. I had mentioned to my husband a while back if the sparkplugs were bad, and he said they should have been good.

Never been a fan of Champion plugs. When my car was new, I replaced mine with Denso Irridiums. Expensive, but at over 100,000 miles and car never ran better, now they seem like a good deal. Ask to keep the old plugs anyway.

Well, here's a stupid question, how long are spark plugs supposed to last, or when is it recommended to be changed?

I bet I know what happened. I've seen it before with Champion plugs. They use a powder to seal between the porcelin and the metal shell. If the crimp is not quite so, the powder will blow out causing a loss of compression. It also usually happens to a series of plugs during manufacture so I would not be suprised if a bunch were bad if not all in a single engine.

They say to replace the spark plugs every 30,000 moles.

How many miles are on your car????

14,000 miles on my car, they said the plugs "fouled out. My husband is going to get all the details here in about 20 minutes.

We haven't changed the plugs, so they were the ones that came with it.

I'm so worried, I'm hoping it is something like what Alfa said up there.

I lived through a small piece of my Rochester Quadrajet come off and go through my engine. The piece actually went through four cylinders before it came out the exhaust. When it was all said and done, the plugs in those cyls got bent over and there were some marks on the heads and the pistons, but it still ran after that. I can't believe that the plugs on a new car got oil injected into them to make them all misfire. I would definately want the old plugs back if I paid for them....but, at 14k I wouldn't be paying for them, so they may tell you that they are keeping them for warranty purposes.

Well, they replaced ALL of them! They said the porcelain on them was broken and they weren't really sure as to why, possible a bad batch of spark plugs? They just didn't have a very good explanation. The warranty covered it all, so that's good. One spark plug was fine, but they just went ahead and replaced that one too.

Funny thing is the service manager is a band parent (my husband is highschool band director), and the guy that worked on my car was a former band student of my husband's, and THEN I saw a guy who I knew from some Chili cookoffs. Weird day at the Dodge place, LOL

And, guess what, my car is running awesome now. I suspect this sparkplug problem has always been there, I thought maybe it had to do with the factory exhaust. But, I changed the exhaust and it still had the occasional bump when in idle.

Looks like I'm the only one this has happened to so far in here, hope no one else has any problems.

Thanks everyone for your help, you always make me feel better when I worry about my car!

i found that cracked spark plug insulators are usually the result of spark knock. what grade of fuel are you using? EGR & knock sensors working properly?
Izzy pics money talks. unfortunately, mine usually says... "good bye!"
