    Alarm System

When I use my original keys to unlock the driver's door the alarm goes off. If I use the remote button on the key the alarm doesn't go off and you're able to open the door. Shouldn't the alarm system recognize the clip in the key and allow you to unlock the door without the alarm going off?

Are you turning the key all the way or just enough for it to pop the lock open?

and you're sticking the key in door why?

    I don't think I've stuck a key in a car door in 8 years.

    Alarm System

The dealer had to make a new key and I wanted to be sure I could open & lock the car with the new key. That is how I found out that both keys (original and the second key) activated the Alarm. The Dealer tells me that is how the alarm system works. I would think the chip on the key would allow the door to be open without turning the alarm system on.

No thats not the way it works, it should be smart enough to recognize the transmitter in the key but its not. It would be cool if they could just put a reciever on the door locks like they have on the starter so you it picked up the SKREEM signal. They just assume if you use the keyless to lock it then you will use it to unlock it. If you do set it off then you can just put your key in the ignition and turn it on to deactivate it.

Add this to the list of "If we had all these great features our car would be $20 grand more" like opening glass in the hatch or rear d pillar area.

The only way to lock the car and unlock it with key as to not set the alarm off is to manually push the button down (top of door). If you use the remote or push the power lock button (located with the power window buttons) it will set the alarm off using the key in the door. I guess they figure if you have the key, you have the remote.

Regarding the audible part of the alarm. I am interested in turning it off. To not use the arm side of the system. My 2 factory keys are broken. I want to use the other keys I have. How do I get rid of this system so that I may use my other keys with out setting the audible alarm off. Thanks.

alarm system is integrated with several components, not sure if it can be disabled. however, it can be bypassed by manually locking the doors.
why not just fix the keys? easy fix, just resolder battery hold down clip to circuit board.
Izzy pics money talks. unfortunately, mine usually says... "good bye!"
