    6 Speed Manual?

Anybody ever talk about, or actually put a 6 speed manual in an LX? I was thinking maybe a t-56 in my 300. What do you guys think, and if anyone has done it, how much?

Nice thought, but I doubt it'll work due to HAL.

I hope you have six degrees in programming so you can get the computer to accept the change. Keisler tried doing it... couldn't get it to run right.

While this wont help for a few years, today we got this as part of a giant announcement...

    (from http://www.allpar.com/news/)
A new automated manual (dual-clutch) transmission – developed in partnership with Getrag (based on many Chrysler patents) – will be used in significant volumes in 2010 model-year vehicles. The transmission is expected to deliver a fuel economy improvement of up to six percent, based on preliminary testing
sounds like we COULD have a REAL paddle shifting tranny on the LY (eventually)

I'm also excited about them putting the Hemi+Hybrid in LX/LY... That would rock (especially for the police/fleets).

Well here's the deal. The tranny and bellhousing and clutch are "on the shelf items". There are no manufactures offering rear gears yet and the major hurdle is the programmer. If you were to do this it would require a custom pedal bracket assemble and drive shaft as well. The manny tranny WILL NOT work with the rear gear offerings we have. The over all final drive ratio lends it's self to way to much torque on the clutch and gears and is braking parts. If you would like some additional info on this go here:

Dude, better update yourself.............Shaffi (Keisler) is out of the game. My info comes first hand on most and educated speculation on the remainder. Time for someone else to pick up the ball.
