    Smile 6.1 exhaust on 5.7

I just installed a full 6.1 exhaust on my daytona and went to the track tonight.
My other mods are afe stage II, diablo, and jet 180 tstat. With just those mods I ran a 13.8@102. Tonight with the 6.1 exhaust i ran 13.55@104.7.
If anyone has any questions about installing the 6.1 exhaust on a 5.7 let me know.

    Really!

Did you do just the mufflers or you also did the headers?
Because I put the srt8 exhaust on my Magnum and honestly it almost felt like it got a bit slower.

When was the last time you went to the track and what was the difference in the conditions and DA.

I was just thinking about this this morning. I have the 6.1 exhaust and blastin bob resonated tips. I was wondering is it possible to loose low-end torque with a more free-flowing exhaust? I think back, when i put the blastin exhaust tips on, i felt it wasn't as torquey down low. Is this a myth or does it stand true? Has anyone noticed loss of low-end torque with bigger exhaust?

its true you can go too big on exhaust. i got a daytona catback on mine. i cut 1.8 60fts on a stock stall . may be something to it i dunno. im not messing with it . unless someone has on i can play with on the dyno.

Hmmm. Also, wondering if you would need a bigger exhaust for a cam with a bigger exhaust lift than intake. Erik? Dam and there was a Volant that just went for $600. Doah!

well thats a funny story I started on a sunday before i had any of the parts figuring i could pick up the gaskets and bolts on monday from the dealer. So sunday night I took everything off. Only took 2 hours or so. Monday I went to the dealer and they had the gaskets but only 6 bolts. So monday I only put in three bolts on each side. So tuesday I finished it off. So all together 6 or so hours.

I did the headers, mids, and cat-back. The cat-back is a loaner, I ordered a srt JBA cat-back from HHP but they didn't have any in stock so I put on the stock cat-back until the JBA comes in. HHP was great answering the questions I had and helping me find a stock cat-back to use. I am very impressed with there customer service.

It didnt feel any faster when I put it on but I got .3 and 2 mph so it helped.

I went to the track the friday before. Just about the same conditions. I run at Cecil County dragway I have no idea what DA is or what it was. If someone can help me out with that it would be fantastic. Thanks.

Last weekend i replaced the Volant 6.1 cat-back i have with the stocker i kept, in order to see the difference. I wanted to see how much torque and mpg i loose with the 6.1 exhaust. To my surprise the milage is almost the same, no real gain. I don't feel that it gain that much of low end torque but i did lost power in the high end. You may loose some power under 2K but beyon 2K it's totally different. Since you spend more time beyon 2K at the track is probably the reason you get better time.

i put ONLY the 6.1 headers on my 5.7 and i can tell you low end torque is there. I have NEVER been able to rip the tires shifting from 1 -2. Now i can. And the deadly drone from my JBA [ imo ] has decreased 20-30%.

you will be good with those. we are more thinking that the 2.75 tubing in the stock 6.1 cat back may be lil big and robbing torque.
