    6.1 cam in 5.7

I saw an listing on ebay for the 6.1 cam, his listing said that the Ram guys have been running it w/o problems in the 5.7. Question is will it work in an LX 5.7? He was claiming about 25 HP increase.

Yep - it works just fine in the LX. The most computer friendly cam you can find for the 5.7, and you can't beat the price. The only problem is that most of the power is made up high in the RPM scale. Frank Racing has a cam timing tool coming out next month though, that will allow it to be advanced, and bring the power down into the lower range. If this does what it's expected to do, the 6.1 cam may be the best bargain out there!

If you are brave, get some good Valvesprngs and put the 6.1 cam in with the MDS lifters...

I suggest you NOT be brave and just run some 6.1 valve springs w/ this cam. This is fairly easy and inexpensive; this is what you need.

    6.1 cam: $80 - $180 used/new
    8 lifters w/ guides: about $90
    16 6.1 Valvesprings: about $75
    FRI Adj Timing Gear: $163
    B&G 5.7: $450 (?)
    Torque Converter: $350 - $450

    Drag Radials on R/T's: PRICELESS!

With the timing gear on both, which would be better? A Comp 260 or stock 6.1 cam. Pros/cons of each setup?

jury is out.................check out the MoFo where Meister's car went against Cool-V's.

    fairly close apples to apples...........

I feel the difference is that once we can advance the degrees on the 6.1 we can bring the power back in the RPM where we can use it.

Cool-V is about to advance his as well as MadCharger..................stay in touch and I can give you more percise numbers.

BUT BUT BUT..................please remember that the 260 can use the MDS while the 6.1 can't.

But also keep in mind that the 6.1 will idle like stock, and be perfectly acceptable to HAL - in all weather conditions!

Are you implying that the 260 won't?

Yes..... From what I've seen, the 260 will idle ok in the warm weather, but have a harder time in the cold. However, with a B&G flash, this is not an issue.
