    5.7 Liter Vibration Fix! (finally)

    Hello all,

I just wanted to let you all in on something.

When I first got my 2005 Magnum R/T AWD, I didn’t notice any vibration coming from the engine but after about 2 months I started to notice a lot of vibration at a stop light or just stopped any where.

I complained to Dodge/Chrysler and they said sorry can’t help you this will have to be taken care of by your local dealer.

Then, I took it to my local Chrysler/Jeep dealer and told the service manager about the problem and he said ok I’ll check it out and see if there is any noticeable vibration coming from the engine. Later that day he called back and said he could defiantly tell that it is vibrating harshly at a stop. So, I went to pick it up and we popped the hood and both took a look and could see how much the engine was shaking, as we were talking about it, he said that he knew a few guys at the auburn hills and that they would like to take a look at it because a lot of people have complained about it over that past few months and that it was one of their top things on the list to get fixed.

So, I took it down to the dealer again and the auburn hills inspection/test people looked at it for a day to see if it passed as a vibrating specimen. Later that day I got a call back letting me know that it did pass and that they are going to work on a fix for it. So they took another look and found that it has to do with the Cam.

About 7 months later just about to give up on it, I got a call from my service manager saying that it finally went trough all of the paper work and that they now have a fix for the vibration.

So present time 2/7/07, I just dropped it off today. He said that the old Cam will be replaced with a new 2007 Cam. He said that from the 2005 that the cam has superseded 4 times, and that I will notice a huge difference in smoothness. They will also flash the new software on it to go with the Cam. Then later tomorrow after the install they will test it and give the news back to the headquarters

I’m very excited and can’t wait to get it back. I will keep you all updated on this when I get it back.

    Steve

Hey thanks guys, I should be getting it back later today. So I will let you all in on how she performs as soon as possible.

Cam Very cool buddy!!. Hey, where you been lately??.
Hey cam nice to here from ya, long time no see. Well I haven’t been around lately due to issues at work the last couple of months and didn’t get a chance to check out the forums much. Though things let up quit a bit and are going smoothly so I have more free time now.

    Cheers,

    Steve

    Well,
I called my dealer and they said that the engine has been taken apart and is going to take longer than expected because they have never done anything like it before.

So they said it could be done by tomorrow or Monday.

In the mean time I get to drive a 300C SRT-8 woop woop!
