    0-60 times for all cars

Here is a great site that has a lot of 0-60 and 1/4 mile times for the last 30 years.

    http://www.albeedigital.com/supercou...0-60times.html

It is shocking how slow cars were in the late 70s and early 80s:

    1975 Chevrolet Corvette 350 9.6 16.4
    1976 Chevrolet Corvette 350 8.1 16.5
    1977 Chevrolet Corvette 8.8 16.6
    1979 Chevrolet Corvette L82 7.3 15.7
    1980 Chevrolet Corvette L82 7.4 15.4
    1982 Chevrolet Corvette 9.2 16.6
    1984 Chevrolet Corvette 6.7 15.1
    1985 Chevrolet Corvette 5.7 14.1

    1986 Ferrari Testarossa 5.3 13.4
    1989 Ferrari Testarossa 6.2 14.2
Just think, an SRT8 can beat a Testaross!

    1974 Ford Mustang II Auto 15.6 19.4

Kool stuff -- we're in good company (Old Vettes and Ferraris).

The Mustang II ??? WOW -- can you say riding lawnmower?

Like to have this list in EVIC with voice activation (at the light you say " 05 GTO" -- EVIC says "better pass on this one")

That's a good site (I already had it bookmarked), but keep in mind that those should just be used as a starting point. A lot of those numbers are what the factory states, when the actual number may be higher or lower in the real world.
"Walkin' the thin white line on this smiling road. 40 days, I've been all alone. Draggin' my heart all across this world. I got 100 miles to go before I get back to see my girl. Aint got nothing, I got nothing to lose. I keep walking away these blues. The cup is broken, but it's half full. I got 100 miles to go before I get back to see my girl."

Oh, I agree. I don't think many of those are factory but many of those times are from Motor Trend who usually is on the slower side with performance cars. I have most Motor Trend, Car & Driver, and Road & Track magazine issues since the mid 70s so most of those numbers I can trace back to actual tests.

However, there are so many factors to keep in mind.

    1. Older cars were much more customizable (?) than new cars. They had many engine choices combined with many axle ratio choices so the variance was much greater.

    2. Build quality had a lot more variance in the past.

    3. Older cars with carbs and the like had much greater swings in performance due to temp and humidity. When and where the car was tested is huge.

    4. Most mags did not correct for weather and altitude in the old days.

    5. Many manufacturers were known to send ringers to car test mags.

    6. Older performance cars ran on such small tires that the skill of the test driver was huge. Do you realize that even the original Lamborghini Countach (with a claimed top speed of 192mph) only ran on 205/70 tires!!! You barely can get a Civic with tired that narrow now. How many muscle pony cars left the dealer with F70-14 bias ply tires?!!!!

So you are correct in saying you have to look at these as relative times. Still, 14 seconds 0-60 is torture. Why bother? You might as well drive a go kart!

    I thought that looked familiar . . .

I started up the SuperCoupe Club of Ontario (along with 2 others) before I traded the SC & WRX in on the Magnum.

This thread started by me many months ago captured many cars by time, from fastest to slowest. The idea was to take your 0-60 time, regardless of 300/mag model, and find worthy opponents - those with times similar - for your own "Happy Hunting" experience.

Part of the crappy times from that era was from the introduction of emission systems requirements, namely cats.
