Is synthetic oil OK to use in the 2.7 liter engine?

    Hello Gang,

I was wondering, is it OK to use synthetic oil in the 2.7 liter engine in my new 300? I'm still running the factory oil. When it comes time to change the oil for the first time, would it be OK? I'm thinking, if I use the same viscosity 5W30, it should be OK. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I look foreward to be hearing FROM the GROUP soon.

    Sincerely yours,

There should be no problem with switching to synthetic. One of the main benefits to synthetics are the durability, however DC has not made any reference to increasing the change oil frequency on either dino oil or synthetic. So to be on the safe side (in my opinion), if you do switch to synthetic then follow the 3K mile oil change frequency established by DC (cancelling out the main benefit of synthetic).
With that said, I run synthetic in my Magnum RT.
    good luck whatever your choice.

if you have the 2.7, you should use ONLY synthetic and change it every 3000 miles. the 2.7 without synthetic likes to sludge up and throw rods.
