How easy to fix; Trans output shaft sensor?
Cost?
Does your cruise control work?
My speedo failed on my Mag at 5k miles and the instrument cluster was replaced under warranty. Have no idea what it cost but I'm sure it would be significant. My cruise still worked so it must have had some speed input.
Cruise control works...... pass on fixing it for $1200, I borrowed my friends Garmen and the speedo on it works just fine if I go on any long highway trips...........
I found a bunch of speedometers on ebay cheap.

I actually have a spare speedo for 06 3.5 touring. I believe it has forty something close to 50k
While it's older and less refined tech, my 98 Wrangler would occasionally have all the gauges fall flat at random times while driving. A quick bop or two to the dash brought everything back to life. Eventually I just took it apart and cleaned the connection and it disappeared.
Anyone have insight as to what causes the failure on an LX? Is there even the possibility for a dirty connector?
