Silver Plastic trim part slid off my gear selecter.... :(

I noticed some rattling around last night in the dark, I looked down and the cone shaped silver plastic cone shaped part under the gear shift handle slid down the shaft and was rattling around on the gear channel.

    Bummer.

What was worse, it looks like the only thing keeping it up there was friction. It just slides up and is supposed to friction fit on, which mine doesn't seem to stay anymore.

A little electrical tape on the shift knob mating surface made it just that much thicker so it now stays (Crossing Fingers!) at least it did on the rid to work this morning.

I was kind of depressed. 5K miles and my chrysler is already falling apart.

Just like all my Ford and BMW friends said it would. :(

I don't know if I should bring that up the next time I take it to the dealer for service. They might REPLACE the parts, or they might just tape it back together, or worse, super glue it so it never comes off.

I have the same thing, as well as a "C" pillar trim dropping out, and sunroof cover weatherstripping peeling away. 8K

Holy crap! I think we all got suckered in to buying Chrysler products!

Here I thought Chrysler was doing much better with quality now than they were in the 80's. This (combined with all the sunroof and squeaking and popping sounds) makes me wonder if they really have gotten better, and also what their 11 million "customer equivalent" miles of testing before launch gave them.

You have to be realistic, I never had this many people at my fingertips scrutinizing over the same car all over North America and some parts of the world. I'm still VERY happy with my very first new vehicle purchase. I'm not what you would you call young either.

Hey, don't misunderstand... these little annoyances, along with right front dash speaker rattle, crazing of the steering wheel bezels, and a tempermental passenger seat airbag sensor only add to the wonderful personality this car has. It is a blast to drive, still turns heads, and hauls all kinds of stuff. I don't sweat the small things..
