Right Pull Fixed?

Looking at a 300C for the wife and a Dodge Magnum for myself, I am wondering if the right pull problem has been corrected at production level? If so, does anyone know when? That way I can CHECK the build date to make sure

If you don't get an answer here, you should post it on the Brampton web page. Not every LX car had the problem, so they might know if the problem was identified that was causing it to happen.

From what I remember, there was TSB issued in April, but cars built after can still have it.

Speaking for myself. My C was built in August and had the right drift/pull problem.
I waited 3 months to have it fixed. They adjusted the alignment which fixed the drift.
I am still seeing threads where the right pull has not been fixed after several tries.
IMO, the drift/pull is still a problem on some current production cars. Alignment will fix some, like my car. Others take more radical surgery. Not all get fixed. It is the luck of the draw.

My advice is to drive the snot outta it on the test drive. Make sure you take it on a highway with relatively small crown, take it up to 70, put the cruise control on and then take your hands off the wheel. If it starts drifting right, drive straight back to the dealer and do not buy it unless you are a mashochist. Also, if you decide to buy one, make sure you apply for Chrysler financing (even if your not going to use it), that way you can make a small downpayment and they will let you take the car home. Then drive the piss outt it and if it exibits any drift, you can break the deal. Don't do what I did and pay for the car 100% before you take it home. I reported my problem 45 minutes after driving away but because I had paid for the car in full, I had zero bargaining power and they basically told me so. I got screwed. It can happen so please be careful. PT

First of all, sitedrifter, don't take your hands off the wheel.

Simply loosening your grip on the wheel will be enough to uncover anything significant. No cruise control necessary.

The right-pull issue has been addressed, both at the assembly level and with a bulletin (TSB) to dealers. That said, the LX platform (the 300 and Magnum) seems to be sensitive to crowned roads. North American roads usually are crowned left-to-right (or center-to-outside), and since we drive on the right side...you get the idea. Also, my Magnum RT is more sensitive to unequal tire pressures than other cars I've owned.

Yes, test-drive the car on the highway. Yes, drive in the right lane and see if it drifts toward the shoulder. Then drive for a while in the left lane (which, most likely, will either be level or crowned right-to-left) and see if it drifts to the left.

Chances are good that you'll notice no drift, or the car will display an ever-so-slight tendency to follow the crown of the road.

My 2001 300M was extremely sensitve to road crowns in NJ and in fact, made me complain about it numerous times but once I got used to it, it was fine.

I would take a test drive but would rather not waste my time if I knew of a specific date assembly corrected the issue.

Sounds crazy huh? Everybody says that. I don't blame them. Sounds crazy to me too! As they say,, "truth is stranger than fiction." 45 minutes is how long it took me to drive home (35 miles). I called them FROM home and reported the problem. I would have turned around and taken it back the same day but I picked it up a 8 pm. Dropped it off the following morning to get it fixed. Car was in shop for 2 days. They installed the shim kit IAW tech bulletin. It didn't fix problem. Thats when dealer told me he couldn't do any more for me. Did I protest? Oh hell yes. Did I contact DC? Yes, immediately. DId either one make the slightest effort to work with me on any level to either fix, exchange or buy back car? Nope! I felt like I woke up in a Seinfeld episode. Personally, knowing what I do now, I would wait until your assured all the bugs have been worked out of the first year model before buying one. Good luck! PT

A DaimlerChrysler Service Rep drove and tested my "Conservative Right Wing" leaning drifter Magnum about 2 weeks ago. Hey, maybe this car is a Republican and is refusing to be liberal or middle of the road. :D Car was built in June so it already as the bolt kit FROM the TSB. lI have to wait for his written report and finding. Dealerships says I should get the report around the end of the month.

Our 300C was built early - got the bolt kit is drives fine.

Yep, I am a little off kilter on the choices.

My dream car was a 71 Challenger RT HEMI. Did not get it but got the HEMI in my Ram. I kick so much but with my 5000 pound truck chewing up Acura's and other ricers, I can imagine what the Magnum is like at 1000 or so pound less.

Now, while I am enjoying the HEMI, the aftermarket support is not there for the engine so here comes the SRT-10 INTO play. It has the baddest engine around, useable as a truck and is a collectors item to a point.

I love trucks and love the Magnum's looks also. So is it a 350/mo or 700/mo deal?

I will let everyone know, but if I choose the SRT-10, HEMI's will still be loved, in fact, might even start my own forum, http://www.hemiforum.com

Yep,, I own it (bought it when I got my truck last year) so who knows
