Observed mileage

So, now that a few 300C's are on the road, what kind of miles per gallon are you getting? I suspect the numbers might be low because the Hemi is too much fun to punch.

On the Hwy w/ speed control set @ 70 mph
Resetting the EVIC – MPG settings and driving for
10 miles at that speed it shows 22 MPG.

Around town 15 -17 MPG , and yes its hard not
to stab the “skinny” pedal. (Guys in Mustangs gawking
At the car) people like to see that burst of speed…

I know I'd flip out if I looked at a 300 and saw a reflection of me driving a Mustang. That would really hurt.

Anyone else keeping track of their mileage? I realize buying the 3.5L V6 is ridiculous to most, but I drive 154 miles per day and intend to ORDER a new Magnum as my commuter car. Current car is a 94 Impala averaging 17 MPG so the advertised 28 MPG of the 3.5L attracts me. Wondering if 28 MPG is realistic. If anyone in a 5.7 reports highway mileage over 25 MPG, I'd have to reconsider!

You ARE kidding, right?? The top end of EPA estimates is at 25 and I have never talked with anyone who got EPA numbers in any car (unless they drive very conservatively and why buy a hemi to do that).

So far, I am getting 17MPG with the Hemi Magnum. No matter how hard I try to get better, it never really goes up.

I am still waiting for my 300C, Ordered 4/30 built 6/02, waiting shipment. Re:MPG in general, I beat the epa figures in my 04 sienna fully loaded with a week of luggage and got 29.5 with the cruise on 70. My dad's 97 Town car consistantly beats the epa at 28-29 cruise on 65. City mpg is a different story but not bat at about 17mpg for a 4000lb car that consumer reports considers a gas guzzler. Automatic Corrolas only get 32 on the hwy!

Interesting...where are you? I forgot to also mention that geography and climate can be very detrimental to MPG...for instance very hilly terrain or something like temps of over 90 degrees with humidity of 50% or higher (like we have in Houston) can be a killer.

At 154 miles per day, 25MPG for the HEMI, 5 days per week, 52 weeks per year, and $2.4 per gallon, you would spend $3,844 per year on fuel.

If the V6 gets 28MPG, you would only save $412 per year.

If the HEMI somehow only gets 20 MPG and the V6 somehow gets 30 MPG, the V6 would still only save $1,602 per year.

In reality, small engines made to work hard get worse mileage than big engines hardly working. The MDS on the HEMI makes the mileage even better.

I drove my new "C" FROM Ohio to Texas and back. Really fast trip, uhm even got an official "welcome" FROM a Texas trooper to the tune of $180. :oops:

I drove for a day and a half in the city while there, so the entire trip - down - in the city - back, I averaged 24.9 MPG! Funny, going down it was at 22-ish, got the ticket - er welcome paper, and coming back boosted the MPG a bunch. Took a different route back tho. More interstate, less of 59 FROM Texarkana to Houston.

Ya know what? I think that if you want good MPG, get a commuter car for good mileage, a small econbox, and use the R/T for everything else!

2500+ miles on the clock and I get 16-17 City and
On the hwy, resetting the EVIC and setting the cruse control at 70mph
I see 27 MPG(steady) at the end of a 25 mile drive.

Not bad for a car of this size & this power!

I don't worry about mileage at this moment. All I like to do is get form point a to point b as fast as possible. But if you ask me how much mileage I am getting...probably minus -10mpg jejeje :twisted:
